From The Hill and 1440
Not that
ownership is really going to do anything. The Sox “will use a portion of ticket
proceeds to purchase carbon offsets.” That means “buying” clean air from
someone else, or putting money into planting trees or catching methane from
landfills.
Terrapass,
an offset purchasing company, claims that “Every 1,000 pounds of carbon offsets
purchased destroys greenhouse gases equivalent to 1,000 pounds of carbon
dioxide.”
Included in
the Red Sox carbon assessment is “how
people get to and from games.” Sounds like, “Look for future
recommendations/rules against driving private automobiles to the games or taking certain
forms of public transportation.”
Cynical Bob
wonders at the “Oh, aren’t we doing well as a responsible corporation, proving
we care about the planet,” and etc. Buying carbon offsets is in the same “feel
good” budget paragraph as wokeism.
