The people who run Germany are crazy

Absolutely bat-chit nuts.

‘New Year's Eve party in Berlin to have 'safe zone' for women’

“Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to attend the New Year's Eve party in Berlin on Sunday and security will be strict. Large bags, such as rucksacks, and alcoholic drinks will be banned at the Brandenburg Gate.

“Women who have been assaulted or feel harassed will be able to get support at a special ‘safety zone’, staffed by the German Red Cross, on Ebertstrasse.”

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-42502984?ocid=socialflow_twitter

Got that? Any woman who has been raped can go to a safe zone where somebody from Red Cross will make feel good talk and probably ask the woman what she did to entice the Arab/Turk/Somali(s) who raped her.

German men! Grow a pair! Remember your ancestors from 2,000-plus years ago who kept Caesar’s legions away from the womenfolk!

“If you come in here, it’s going to be you or me,

...and I’ll see to it that it won’t be me!”

PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ)-- Yvonda "Bonnie" Gatens woke up to the sound of a man trying to pry open her bedroom window early Christmas Eve morning.

Gatens lives off Showen Hill Road in Putnam County. She and her late husband built their home 40 years ago.
After she heard the noise at the window, she called 911 and grabbed her gun.

"I told him 'you're going to die' and he fell over to the side," Gatens explained to WSAZ.

Putnam County Sheriff's deputies responded to the woman's call, but they were unable to find the person.

Despite losing a sense of security, Gatens is relieved everything ended up OK. Now she's encouraging her neighbors to keep an eye out for anything suspicious.

"If you come in here, it's going to be you or me, and I'll see to it that it won't be me!" Gatens said.

Confusing headline on Russian spy story

‘Russian Foreign Ministry: Russian spy detained in Russia’

So he was a Russian spying in Russia?

No.

“Detained in Russia on suspicion of espionage, a Norwegian citizen was an employee of the special services.

“As writes on December 28, ‘Gazeta.ru’ referring to RIA Novosti, this was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova. ‘Indeed, on December 5, during a spy operation in Moscow, a representative of Norwegian special services, a Norwegian citizen, Mr. Berg, was detained. He is in Russia on a tourist visa. On December 6, a criminal case was initiated against him under Article 276 of the Criminal Code ‘Espionage’,” the agency quotes Zakharova as saying.

“She stressed that this incident will not affect relations between Russia and Norway: ‘It happens, it is unpleasant, accordingly, and the legislation of our country provides for adequate measures in this case’, concluded the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.”

Cremated remains of Roman soldiers found in northern Israel

“The monumental base (it was around 330 yards by 550 in area) is the only permanent, full-scale legionary camp discovered in the eastern Roman Empire. There are several in mainland Europe and we know there were major bases elsewhere in the Levant and east — Jerusalem, or rather, Aelia Capitolina, built on the ruins of Jerusalem after Titus’ razing of it in 70 A.D., had a large base — but they have yet to be found.”

Remains of legionnaires were in cooking pots.

“’Cremation burials in cooking pots were a common practice among Roman soldiers at that time. We found this kind of burial all around the site,’ Tepper told Haaretz.”

‘Turkey busts massive artifact smuggling ring’

“Istanbul police have recovered 26,456 ancient artifacts and arrested 19 people in the biggest anti-smuggling operation in Turkish history.

“’Among the items recovered were a golden queen’s crown with an inscription of the Hellenistic god, Helios, a bust dedicated to Alexander the Great’s conquest of India and a statue of a goddess dating back to the Hittite era 3,000 years ago.

“’The 26,456 objects recovered also included Egyptian-origin statues and Phoenician-type teardrop vials.

‘The retrieved artefacts are… more valuable than the artefacts in the inventory of an average size museum,’ Istanbul police said in a statement.

“One of the seized artifacts is a rare bird: a 3,000-year-old Mycenaean sword ostensibly owned by the hero Achilles himself. It’s not rare that some random object would be attributed to a hero of Troy — that kind of faux relic was venerated in temples for hundreds of years — but very few of them have survived in any recognizable form.”

Must be a Hex(t) on these towns

Hext, Okla., is in the far west of the Sooner State. Hext, Texas, is a bit south of the center of the Lone Star State. Highway distance between the two towns is 352.4 miles, by way of Highway 6 North.

The Oklahoma Hext is on old U.S. Highway 66, with I-40 a few miles south. There is no off ramp to Hext. Here is a link to photos:

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Hext,+OK+73645/@35.248939,-99.753486,3a,75y,90t/data=!3m8!1e2!3m6!1sAF1QipNbEE_elu0Xd5C1GG_20Y2uoO2sQjtBWSNMKmYL!2e10!3e12!6shttps:%2F%2Flh5.googleusercontent.com%2Fp%2FAF1QipNbEE_elu0Xd5C1GG_20Y2uoO2sQjtBWSNMKmYL%3Dw114-h86-k-no!7i2492!8i1870!4m5!3m4!1s0x87abc8cf7098c8d9:0x4040d4d39be7bf3!8m2!3d35.248939!4d-99.753486

Hext is in that part of Oklahoma, when you’re out there, you are out there. The nearest town west is Erick (6.8 miles), with Sayre sitting 7.1 miles east.

Hext had a post office from June 4, 1901, until November, 1902. Hey, we got mail! And then: Sorry. No more mail.

Hext is in Beckham County, Okla. In 2010, Beckham County population was 22,119, somewhat of a decrease from the historical high of 28,991 in 1930. Between then and now, the smallest population was 15,754, in 1970.

“The county economy has been based mainly on farming and raising livestock. The major crops have been cotton, wheat, alfalfa, kafir, milo maize, and broomcorn. Mineral industries have occasionally been significant. In the early 20th century, there was some salt production. A limited amount of oil and gas production began in the 1920s.”

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beckham_County,_Oklahoma

The Texas Hext is in Menard County. This Hext is still settled, with a 2010 population of 73.

“Hext is at the intersection of State Highway 29 and Farm Road 1221, sixteen miles southeast of Menard in eastern Menard County. It was known as Maringo (Marengo) when the area was settled in the 1870s, but residents changed the name to Hext in the late 1890s in honor of Joseph Robert Hext. A local post office was established in 1897 with Ennis Stark as postmaster. In 1914 the community had a cotton gin, a hotel, two general stores, and 125 residents. A Church of Christ had been organized in 1904, and a Baptist church was established in 1916. By the mid-1920s, population estimates for the community had fallen to forty; they rose to sixty in the late 1940s and remained at that level through the mid-1980s. The community reported sixty-four residents in 1988. In 2000 the population was seventy- three.”

Like its Oklahoma cousin, Hext, Texas, is out there.

One of the pictures is of the front of the Trading Post Café. At the bottom of the sign are the letters “BYOB.” That means “Bring Your Own Bottle.” The café sells soft drinks, but if a customer wants something harder, he has to bring his own.

Northwest of Hext, the aerial photo shows a “Dead Man Hollow,” but no explanation.

Google doesn’t recognize Christmas

Not surprising. Placing Christmas above other holidays would mean recognizing the superiority of Western Civilization, whereas Google pushes diversity and all that.

Instead of Christmas, Google references “December global festivals,” linking specifically to Al-Jazeera’s “Here are 12 global festivals in December, besides Christmas.” And, Google’s logo of the day notes: “Prime Web Placement December global festivities Google doodle marks day 2 of Google’s holiday doodle series - Today's doodle shows Google's animated penguins celebrating the holidays with their warm weather friends.”

Nothing says Christmas (or Hanukkah, which Google also does not recognize) like penguins.

He should have accepted the bomb threat

‘Kyrgyzstan: Top Official Quits Over Bomb Scare’

“By Nurjamal Djanibekova

“A high-ranking official in Kyrgyzstan announced his resignation on December 21 after facing accusations he sparked a panic by suggesting a recent presidential inauguration ceremony was the target of a bomb plot.

“Duishenbek Zilaliyev, who had only served as head of the State Asset Management Fund for a month, denies the claims against him, saying he was simply misheard when he complimented a female police cadet on her uniform.

“The incident in question occurred on November 24, the day President Sooronbai Jeenbekov was sworn into office. According to the police cadet’s account, she was approached by Zilaliyev while she was standing in a security cordon created along a highway for the event.

The official then informed her that a bomb had been planted somewhere along the highway, she has claimed. Alarm briefly ensued, and security services later opened an investigation into the episode.

“Zilaliyev says that whole story is hogwash.”

Defending Christian culture

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in Magyar Idok:

“’We Europeans — with or without confessing it, with or without being conscious of it — live in a culture that is structured by the teachings of Christ,’ Orbán said.

“The Hungarians have every right to see themselves as a Christian nation, he said, adding that ‘the fact we were Christian and our living faith kept us in the centre of Europe over a millennium’.

Christian culture ‘defines their everyday values,’ Orbán said.

“’It defines our perceptions of the nature of justice and injustice, of the relationship between man and woman, of the family, of success, of work and of honour,’ he added.

“Regardless of whether or not we go to church, or, if we do, to which one, ‘we don’t want to have to celebrate Christmas Eve behind drawn curtains to avoid offending somebody’s sensibilities’, Orbán said. ‘We don’t want our Christmas markets to be renamed, and we certainly don’t want to have to put them behind concrete barriers. We don’t want to deprive our children of the joy of Saint Nicholas and of gift-giving traditions,’ he added.

“’Our way of life, our fundamental worldview is coming under a targeted attack. Europe’s immune system is being intentionally weakened. They want us to be those whom we are not,’ he said. ‘They want to take away our way of life and exchange it for something that is not our way of life,’ he added.

“’A historical task has been put before European countries in 2017. The free nations of Europe, the national governments elected by their free citizens have a new task: they must defend Christian culture,’ he said.

“’Our starting point was always that we have the right to live our own lives. And when we had the strength, we defended this right. That’s why for years we have been working to make Hungary stronger and put it back on its own feet,’ he added.

“Orbán said that as long as his government is in power, it would work to keep Hungary Christian and Hungarian, as well as do everything possible to keep Europe European.”

He also quoted Robert Schuman, former premier of France, who said, “Europe shall be Christian, or shall cease to be.”

Climbing abandoned grain elevators

These are near Yaroslavl. Not urban climbing, but just as satisfying and as dangerous.

Also not for me. I would be as the author: “I confess I did not get to the top. Something at me the fear of heights was played out at that moment.”

Yaroslavl is 250 kilometers northeast of Moscow.

Branch, Arkansas -- Near mountains and oil

Branch is in Franklin County, which is north of Fort Smith and two counties east of Oklahoma. The 2010 population was 367, the most since 1940, when 390 people lived there.

Branch is on Arkansas Highway 22 and sits between Charleston to the west and Cauksville to the east.

In 2010, Branch had a population of 357. Ethnic and race-wise breakdown showed 96.08% were white; 1.68% native American; 0.84% Asian; 0.56% other races; and 0.84% two or more races. Of all those, 0.56% were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

About 10% of the total population and 6.9% of families had income below the poverty line, including 16.9% of those under age 18. Of the population older than 65 (14.4%), none was in poverty circumstances.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Branch,_Arkansas

Branch is a few miles north of the beginning of Arkansas’ folded up mountains. It is close enough to Oklahoma, though, that if you go down toward Booneville, you will see a couple hundred oil wells.

The Writing Assignment

This is supposedly a true article written by an American English teacher.
________________________________________
This was my assignment to the class:
"Today we will experiment with a new form called the tandem story. The process is simple. Each person will pair off with the person sitting to his or her immediate right. One of you will then write the first paragraph of a short story. The partner will read the first paragraph and then add another paragraph to the story. The first person will then add a third paragraph, and so on back and forth. Remember to re-read what has been written each time in order to keep the story coherent. There is to be absolutely NO talking and anything you wish to say must be written on the paper. The story is over when both agree a conclusion has been reached."
The following was actually turned in by two of my English students: Rebecca – last name deleted, and Gary – last name deleted.
————————————————————————————————

STORY: (first paragraph by Rebecca)

At first, Laurie couldn't decide which kind of tea she wanted. The chamomile, which used to be her favorite for lazy evenings at home, now reminded her too much of Carl, who once said, in happier times, that he liked chamomile. But she felt she must now, at all costs, keep her mind off Carl. His possessiveness was suffocating, and if she thought about him too much, her asthma started acting up again. So chamomile was out of the question.
—————————————————————————————

Meanwhile, Advance Sergeant Carl Harris, leader of the attack squadron now in orbit over Skylon 4, had more important things to think about than the neuroses of an air-headed asthmatic bimbo named Laurie with whom he had spent one sweaty night over a year ago. "A.S. Harris to Geostation 17," he said into his transgalactic communicator. "Polar orbit established. No sign of resistance so far…" But before he could sign off a bluish particle beam flashed out of nowhere and blasted a hole through his ship's cargo bay. The jolt from the direct hit sent him flying out of his seat and across the cockpit.

—————————————————————————————

He bumped his head and died almost immediately, but not before he felt one last pang of regret for psychically brutalizing the one woman who had ever had feelings for him. Soon afterwards, Earth stopped its pointless hostilities towards the peaceful farmers of Skylon 4. "Congress Passes Law Permanently Abolishing War and Space Travel," Laurie read in her newspaper one morning. The news simultaneously excited her and bored her. She stared out the window, dreaming of her youth – when the days had passed unhurriedly and carefree, with no newspapers to read, no television to distract her from her sense of innocent wonder at all the beautiful things around her. "Why must one lose one's innocence to become a woman?" she pondered wistfully.

————————————————————————————-

Little did she know, but she had less than 10 seconds to live. Thousands of miles above the city, the Anu'udrian mothership launched the first of its lithium fusion missiles. The dim-witted wimpy peaceniks who pushed the Unilateral Aerospace Disarmament Treaty through congress had left Earth a defenseless target for the hostile alien empires who were determined to destroy the human race. Within two hours after the passage of the treaty, the Anu'udrian ships were on course for Earth carrying enough firepower to pulverize the entire planet. With no one to stop them, they swiftly initiated their diabolical plan. The lithium fusion missile entered the atmosphere unimpeded. The President, in his top-secret mobile submarine headquarters on the ocean floor off the coast of Guam, felt the inconceivably massive explosion which vaporized poor, stupid, Laurie and 150 million other Americans. The President slammed his fist on the conference table. "We can't allow this! I'm going to veto that treaty! Let's blow 'em out of the sky!"

—————————————————————————————

This is absurd. I refuse to continue this mockery of literature. My writing partner is a violent, chauvinistic, semi-literate adolescent.

—————————————————————————————

Yeah? Well, you're a self-centered tedious neurotic whose attempts at writing are the literary equivalent of Valium. "Oh, shall I have camomile tea? Or shall I have some other sort of F*CKING TEA??? Oh no, I'm such an airhead bimbo who reads too many Mills & Boon novels."

—————————————————————————————

Asshole.

—————————————————————————————

Bitch.

—————————————————————————————

Wanker.

—————————————————————————————

Slut.

—————————————————————————————

Get f*cked.

—————————————————————————————

Eat sh*t.

—————————————————————————————

F*CK YOU – YOU NEANDERTHAL!!!

—————————————————————————————

Go drink some tea – whore.

—————————————————————————————
—————————————————————————————

A+ – I really liked this one.

Russian chupacabra

Except it kills rabbits. If it was a chupacabra. If there is such a thing.

“One man came to feed his rabbits in the morning as usual. What he saw simply shocked him. Most of the rabbits were dead. The cage doors were broken.

“The night guest was probably rather smart.

“The rabbits were smothered and just scattered around. Two of them were bitten in their heads and their blood was sucked.

“The animal that has been there was rather careful and quiet, the gates were almost undamaged. The man had two dogs but they didn’t bark as if they were hypnotised or scared to death.

“The animal left traces similar to dog’s ones. Out of 93 rabbits 73 were killed.

“You haven’t believed in Chupacabra, do you believe now?”

Written history; selective history; WTF happened?

A bunch of things happen. A big thing happens. Years later, historians look at the things that happened, pick out some that might be, maybe are, can be sort of related and say, “This is why the Big Thing happened. It was inevitable.” Or, “If so and so had done such and such at this point, the Big Thing might not have happened.”

Democrats now want Franken to stay in Senate

"’ What they did to Al was atrocious, the Democrats,’ (Sen. Joe) Manchin told Politico of the majority of his caucus, calling their decision ‘the most hypocritical thing’ he has ‘ever seen done to a human being.”"

http://www.businessinsider.com/democratic-senators-say-al-franken-should-stay-in-senate-2017-12

Let’s see. Franken admitted to some groping, fondling and other mistreatment of women. But Manchin says calls for Franken to resign constitute “the most hypocritical thing” he has “ever seen done to a human being.”

What about the women, Sen. Manchin?

Manchin’s statement and those of other Democrats now backing away from Franken’s resignation prove Democrat’s true beliefs, “Shut up so we can get back on track.”

Knowing what is important

In 1843, a Red River County Texas man filed suit in district court, accusing a riverboat captain of failure to properly secure several hundreds of dollars in shipped goods.

The list of damaged cargo began with these three items:

Candles.

Soap.

Whiskey.

When you consider the distance from markets and areas of production, those three items deemed of most importance make sense.

Three Polish naval officers honored 65 years after murder by Communists

Ceremony took place Friday.

“President Andrzej Duda and a slew of other officials took part in the burial ceremonies in the northern coastal city of Gdynia, for Stanisław Mieszkowski, Zbigniew Przybyszewski and Jerzy Staniewicz, who were convicted and subsequently executed by the country’s communist authorities in 1952 on the basis of trumped-up charges, according to Polish Radio’s IAR news agency.

“In 1939, all three defended Poland’s coast against a German attack. After Polish forces were overpowered by the invader, Mieszkowski, Przybyszewski and Staniewicz were sent to prisoner-of-war camps.

“After the war, they returned to service in the Polish navy. But in the early 1950s, the country’s communist authorities falsely accused them of espionage, among other charges, according to IAR.

“After several months of torture, a sham trial and being handed death sentences, they were executed with shots to the back of the head at an infamous prison for political prisoners on Warsaw’s Rakowiecka Street in December 1952.

“On Friday, Defence Minister Antoni Macierewicz led memorial ceremonies in the coastal town of Hel where the coffins of the three officers were displayed at a church before being shipped by sea to Gdynia.

“The remains of the three officers, whom the communists buried secretly in unnamed mass graves at Warsaw’s Powązki cemetery, were unearthed in 2013 by a team from Poland’s Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) led by Krzysztof Szwagrzyk.

“They were laid to rest with honours at the Polish Navy Cemetery in Gdynia-Oksywie.”

German ISIS girl says she ruined her life

“A German schoolgirl-turned-jihadi bride has been reunited with her mother in Iraq, where she said she was an ‘idiot’ for joining ISIS after escaping from home.

“Linda Wenzel, 17, fled her hometown of Pulsnitz last year by posing as her mom and boarding a flight to Turkey, en route to Syria. She was smuggled into Iraq and ended up in Mosul.

“In July, she was captured by Iraqi soldiers who dragged the filthy, dazed and wounded teen from the former ISIS stronghold.

“She said she fell in love online with a Chechen fighter who convinced her to join him in the so-called caliphate in Syria.

“Linda was drawn by ‘rosy’ ISIS videos ‘where men and their wives and children wandered together through parks … they baked bread together. It was like being in another world.’”

https://nypost.com/2017/12/15/german-teen-isis-bride-reunites-with-her-mom-before-trial/

She said she did not know her husband's last name, other than it was "something Chechnyan."

‘The Trump Effect is Coming to Austria’

‘New Government Announces Program’

On migration and refugees:

• Whoever applies for asylum in Austria will have to hand over all of his cash at the time of application. The sum is to be used to cover the basic supply costs.
• Asylum seekers have to hand over their mobile phones to the authorities. These will analyse the phone data, to clarify identities (for example in social networks) and to verify the purported travel route. The smart phones won’t be completely confiscated, though.
• Quicker withdrawal of the protection status at travels to the homeland.
• During the asylum procedure, asylum seekers will receive non-cash benefits only, no more cash.
• The obligation of medical confidentiality will be suspended, when illnesses of an asylum seeker are “relevant to the basic supply”.
• Refugee children will learn German in so-called bridge classes. Until now, they were integrated directly into the school system.
• The list of safe countries of origin will be expanded.
• The monetary benefit for asylants and subsidiary protected people will be reduced to a base benefit of €365 and a potential integration bonus of €155 Euro. Family benefits will be capped to €1,500.

Support RTO from Dambusters raid dies

“One of the last unsung heroines of the famous Dambusters raid in World War two has died.

“Maureen Stevens was a radio telephone operator who helped guide the Lancaster bombers back to their base at RAF Scampton, Lincolnshire, after they had dropped their bouncing bombs.

“Her calming voice helped reassure the surviving crews as they flew home from the iconic raid on Germany's Möhne, Eder and Sorpe dams in the early hours of May 17, 1943.”

Mrs. Stevens was 97. Her husband, Steve Stevens, is 96. He was a Lancaster pilot in 57 Squadron.

‘Iraq relieves prison overcrowding’

Yeah, they got rid of prisoners the old fashioned way.

Fox News says “Iraq executed 38 convicted ISIS and al Qaeda militants by hanging them from their necks at a prison in the southern Iraqi city of Nassiriya;

“’Iraq’s justice ministry said all of the executed militants were members of ISIS and their appeal options were exhausted. But a government official told AFP that some of the militants belonged to Al Qaeda. One of the terrorists had Swedish citizenship, a prison source told AFP.

“’The prison administration executed on Thursday in the presence of Justice Minister Haidar al-Zameli, in Nasiriyah prison, 38 death row prisoners belonging to [Al Qaeda or ISIS] accused of terrorist activities,’ Dakhel Kazem, a provincial council senior official, told AFP.'

“This follows a mass execution that occurred on September 24th when 42 ISIS members went to their reward by the hangman’s hand. To defeat terrorism, you have to be as bloodthirsty as they are.”

Earliest known pictures of dogs and men hunting together

“Intricately etched rock panels in the Saudi desert include some of the earliest known depictions of dogs and humans hunting together and of canines being handled by people with leashes. A recent study of some 1,400 rock art panels at the sites of Shuwaymis and Jubbah in northwestern Saudi Arabia found 147 scenes of packs of dogs helping people take down prey like equids (likely African asses), lions, ibex, gazelles and leopards. The canines did front lines duty, assault the prey with overwhelming forces to weaken them before the humans came in with bows and arrows to deliver the killing blows. In one scene in which 21 dogs surround an equid mother and her young, two of the dogs have a thick line carved from their necks to their humans’ hip, the earliest known evidence of this familiar link in prehistory.”

Democrat drops out of Kansas race

The ex-candidate (was alleged to have) committed unwanted advances of a sexual nature toward an employee.

The Kansas City Star says Andrea Ramsey “will drop out of the race after the Kansas City Star asked her about accusations in a 2005 lawsuit that she sexually harassed and retaliated against a male subordinate who said he had rejected her advances.”

That’s right. The Democratic ex-candidate is a woman. A woman! Who knew some (alleged) sexual predators could be Democratic women?

And not too bright, either, as Ramsay’s statements show.

Ramsey was vice president of human resources when she (allegedly) made overtures of a sexual nature to a man employee, who also was in human resources. The man said he was fired after declining Ms. Ramsey’s advances. He filed suit and later settled with the company, LabOne.

In interviews with the newspaper, Mrs. Ramsey said she “was not aware of any settlement.”

Wait, wait. She was VP of human resources, yet the company never told her it was going to, and even had, reached a monetary settlement with the man she fired? A high-up company officer costs the company who knows how much money, but the company doesn’t inform its HR VP?

Ramsey was one of several Democratic candidates seeking to go against the Republican incumbent for Kansas’ 3rd District.

Ramsey also said: “In its rush to claim the high ground in our roiling national conversation about harassment, the Democratic Party has implemented a zero tolerance standard. For me, that means a vindictive, terminated employee’s false allegations are enough for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) to decide not to support our promising campaign. We are in a national moment where rough justice stands in place of careful analysis, nuance and due process.”

Paying off the media

“Normal people wonder why the media is so corrupt and the answer lies in the financial arrangements. Cable news channels exist only because cable monopolies exist. The monopolies exist because they are sold by the government. The rich people who own these channels hire people to extol the virtues of rich people. The think tanks and foundations provide the content and experts, so the news presenters can have an easy time celebrating the rich people. It is a closed loop designed to close off alternatives.”

Blytheville, Arkansas -- Southern, poor and dangerous

Blytheville contains one half of the county courthouses in Mississippi County Arkansas. The other is in Osceola. Mississippi County sits south of the Missouri bootheel.

Blytheville’s 2010 official population was 15,620, a decrease of 14.5% from the 2000 census. The city’s population has decreased each decade since 1970, when the population was 24,752.

1 st Lt. Edgar H. Lloyd was born and raised in Blytheville. He was killed Nov. 16, 1944, near Pompey France. Two months earlier, he destroyed five German machine nests.

“For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty. On September 14, 1944, Company E, 319th Infantry, with which 1st Lt. Lloyd was serving as a rifle platoon leader, was assigned the mission of expelling an estimated enemy force of 200 men from a heavily fortified position near Pompey, France. As the attack progressed, 1st Lt. Lloyd's platoon advanced to within 50 yards of the enemy position where they were caught in a withering machinegun and rifle crossfire which inflicted heavy casualties and momentarily disorganized the platoon. With complete disregard for his own safety, 1st Lt. Lloyd leaped to his feet and led his men on a run into the raking fire, shouting encouragement to them. He jumped into the first enemy machinegun position, knocked out the gunner with his fist, dropped a grenade, and jumped out before it exploded. Still shouting encouragement he went from 1 machinegun nest to another, pinning the enemy down with submachine gun fire until he was within throwing distance, and then destroyed them with hand grenades. He personally destroyed 5 machineguns and many of the enemy, and by his daring leadership and conspicuous bravery inspired his men to overrun the enemy positions and accomplish the objective in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. His audacious determination and courageous devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States.”

‘Understanding Balkan geopolitics’

“A key feature of the Balkans is that for the greatest part of their history the peoples inhabiting the peninsula have not been the masters of their destinies. The matrix of geopolitical vectors: the Byzantines’ attempt to protect the border on the Danube from the incursions of Goths, Bulgars, Avars, Slavs, and others in the early medieval era, which ended in the late medieval times the fall of Constantinople, Bulgaria and Serbia to the Ottomans. This was followed by the creation of the Hungarian line of defense against the Turks. After the fall of Hungary [in 1526], it was immediately followed by the Habsburgs’ establishment of the Military Frontier in the western heartland of the peninsula in the 16th century.

“This has always been an area of chronic conflict and instability. In the modern times it was manifested—as we can say now, 99 years later—in the failed Yugoslav experiment. Yugoslavia was the heartland of what is today known as the “Western Balkans,” in reality the core of the region as a whole. Had unification come about half a century earlier, when Cavour unified Italy in 1859, or when Bismarck unified Germany in 1871, the prognosis could have been more favorable and the outcome less catastrophic. Unfortunately, in the final stages of the Great War, unification based on the linguistic and allegedly racial-ethnic kinship was obsolete. Divergent national identities had been well established. The potential for new conflicts, new destruction and bloodshed, remains undiminished. It is far greater than the potential for cooperation and a happy joint path to some ‘European’ future.”

Chuck should take his tax-funded salary and STFU

Prince Charles: “Let’s Remember Muhammad on Christmas”

Is Prince Charles willfully blind? Or evil?

While speaking on the British radio show “Thought for the Day,” the future King of Britain, Prince Charles, said that Christians should be more mindful of Islam and Muhammad during the holidays.

Christians are quite mindful of Muhammad and Islam during the Christmas season. Tis the season of jihad, rivaled only by Ramadan in the spike in Islamic terror attacks. Yes, Prince Charles, Christians remember Muhammad while their churches are burned, their children kidnapped and forcibly converted and their villages burned — all in the cause of Allah.

We remember Muhammad at the Christmas markets that were attacked, the Christmas parties in San Bernardino, the canceled Christmas festivals, and in Berlin, who could forget? We remember Muhammad when we see the concrete barriers, the hole in the NYC skyline, the endless travel lines, the security protocols just to get into a NYC building — oh, yes, we remember Muhammad.

What an intellectual ape this Prince has turned out to be. Let’s pray the Queen had some good sense left and skips a generation when crowning the next King.

The fourth stage of American history

American history is the story of political and economic competition between Virginia and Massachusetts. To see that, simply begin a line between Pennsylvania (the southernmost part of Massachusetts influence). Draw the line west. North of the line is Massachusetts’ Pilgrim philosophy of “We decide what you will do.” South of the line is the old Virginia idea of “What you do is your business, as long as you do not cause disorder.”

The Continental Congress recognized the battle between Massachusetts and Virginia when deciding the commander of the army must not be from Massachusetts. That is a primary reason George Washington was named commanding general.

And, consider the first six presidents of the United States: Washington, from Virginia; John Adams, Massachusetts; Thomas Jefferson, Virginia; James Madison, Virginia; James Monroe, Virginia; John Quincy Adams, Massachusetts.

“This geographic split has been erased from the modern mind, as the people who won the Civil War slowly, but surely, erase everything but the history of the North from the nation’s memory. That last bit is critical. One of the distinguishing features of 20th century American conservatism was its Yankeeness.”

‘Relatives report death of Chechen singer Bataeva in Mosul’

“In September 2017, together with the Chechen pop singer Aza Bataeva, in the Iraqi city of Mosul, her husband and her sister, who came to Iraq to return Aza home, also perished, Bataeva's relatives have stated.

“The ‘Caucasian Knot’ has reported that in April 2016, a video clip appeared on social networks, informing that the famous Chechen pop singer Aza (Khazan) Bataeva had joined the ‘Islamic State’ (announced as terrorist organization and banned in Russia by the court) and was staying in the territory controlled by the IS*.

“According to Aza Bataeva's relatives, about two years ago, she moved to Turkey with her husband; and from there, they moved to the territory under IS* control. In autumn 2017, Aza Bataeva perished in Mosul, along with her husband and her sister, who came to Iraq hoping to return her sister home, the ‘Kavkaz.Realii’ reported on December 8, quoting Bataeva's relatives.

“Bataeva died in September, but it became known only now, the ‘IslamNews’ specifies.”

If you’re driving at night, turn on your headlights

The po-leece are suspicious when it’s after midnight and you’re driving on complete blackout.

HEMPSTEAD COUNTY, AR (KSLA) - A Southwest Arkansas sheriff's deputy knew something was amiss when a car with no headlights on drove by about 18 minutes past midnight.

But what ultimately was found in that vehicle turned out to be more than one likely would have imagined.

It happened early Thursday morning as Deputy Derick Bunn was standing outside the Hempstead County Sheriff's Office.

The gold-colored car with no headlights on was heading west on 4th Street when it stopped at a stop sign at Washington Street and turned north toward 3rd Street.

Authorities say that's when the driver accelerated to a high rate of speed and blew through a stop sign at 3rd at Washington.

He was traveling fast enough that the car went airborne.

And sparks flew from underneath the vehicle when it landed on the north side of the intersection.

That's when Bunn begain chasing the vehicle.

He reportedly saw it run stop signs on Ferguson Street at 3rd and 4th streets before coming to a stop on Ferguson between 4th and 5th streets.

The driver identified himself as a Litchfield, Ill., man by the name of James Wesley Anderson.

And Bunn thought he smelled marijuana.

Authorities say Anderson refused to get out of the car when asked to do so first by Bunn and then by Hope, Ark., police Officer Hunter Halliday.

When two more Hope police officers arrived and asked Anderson to get out, he reportedly said he did not feel safe doing so.

When he was forcibly removed from the car and handcuffed, an officer noticed Anderson was wearing an empty holster.

Anderson reportedly told officers the gun was in the car's center console.

And after asking Anderson if there was anything else in the vehicle, officers confiscated:
• a small jar of suspected marijuana,
• a pistol with a full magazine and a round in the chamber, and,
• drug paraphernalia.

In a bag in the back seat they reportedly found:
• a large glass jar partially filled with marijuana,
• a glove containing a white ball with a brown tar-like substance, and
• a contact lens case containing a small usable amount of suspected methamphetamine.

That was not all.

Further search of the vehicle led to the seizure of $11,963 in cash and 20 guns.

Those firearms were:
• 4 Para 1911 .45-caliber semi-automatic handguns,
• 3 AK-47 semi-automatic rifles,
• 3 Mag 9mm semi-automatic pistols,
• 2 Colt 45 semi-automatic handguns,
• 1 Ruger 9mm semi-automatic pistol
• 1 SWD Inc. M11 9mm semi-automatic pistol,
• 1 Kimber 45-caliber handgun,
• 1 Colt government 45-caliber handgun,
• 1 Kimber 45-caliber semi-automatic handgun,
• 1 Ruger .22-caliber semi-automatic handgun,
• 1 Remington .22-caliber bolt-action rifle, and,
• 1 Remington 30.06 Springfield bolt-action rifle.

Also seized were about 1,000 rounds of AK-47 ammunition and several hundred rounds of ammunition and loaded and empty clips for all the weapon found in the vehicle.

Now Anderson is being held in Hempstead County Detention Center on charges of:
• simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms,
• possession of methamphetamine,
• possession of marijuana,
• possession of drug paraphernalia,
• careless and prohibited driving,
• disobeying a stop sign, and,
• what started it all, driving with no headlights.

Quack, quack

Our neighbor has started feeding the (wild) ducks. Three days ago after taking Victor and Charlie out and then letting them back in, I went out with plastic bags to gather the dogs’ leavings. Two ducks swam across the pond, climbed the embankment and walked to within three feet of me.

“What?” I said.

“Quack, quack.” (Duck for ‘Where da food?’)

“I don’t have any food.”

“Quack, quack, quack, quack.” (‘Yu da man. Where da food?’)

“You’re talking to the wrong man. I don’t have any food.”

“Quack, quack, quack.” (‘Yu da man. Man got food.’)

They didn’t believe me. They were still waiting when I walked away.

One of those days I’m sort of glad the alligator left the pond. The neighbor probably has more sense than to feed an alligator. But you never know.

Last week, a story said a Chicago alderman has sent messages to his alders, suggesting they stop feeding coyotes. You feed wild animals, they associate you with food. When you don't have food, you are food.

In the wilds of East Texas

Lions and cougars and bears, oh my, yes.

There are woods no one ever goes into, places where people hunt deer. Plentiful small and medium wildlife means there will be something bigger looking for dinner.

From a blog where a writer wonders if there are “mountain lions/Cougars in the area.” One response:

“I live in Teasaville,Texas, ive noiticed big cat tracks around my house, thats scary,i live around eight miles from Bullard,Tx.,i know some of the screams are big scetch owls, there very loud, but i have alot of small animals around my place,i go out every once in awhile and check out the tracks in my yard, ive seen some buck tracks, doe's,small cats and some very large cats, ive even seen some very large wolf tracks in my yard,i use to have a part wolf and german shepard mix,so i know the difference in the wolf tracks verses a big dogtrack, these prints are as big as my hand and im a big man with large hands, although i dont have a dew claw but they do,i have always heard we dont have wolves in east texas area, but we do,ive seen them around the Troup area on the roadside, many people say there big cyoties or wild dogs, that we do have around the bullard area, ive heard that for many years,i also have hogs around my house theyve been small tho,not real big,i noiticed someone hit one down the road from my house on 346 north,it was a huge one, probably around three to four hundred pounds a month ago,but i have also seen a panther around the first bridge going down 110south going to troup after passing the Bullard cut off,he was walking across the bottom area,my dad was hunting in the Price,Texas area and a panther walked up on him, while deer hunting he was around ten foot in a tree, the dew was out,he said every step he made he would shake his paws off,i guess because of the dew on the ground,he didnt like them wet,he stayed very still and gun ready,he said after that he never went back to that stand, but there here whether we like it or not,we just have to keep an eye out for them,or stay away from them.Stay safe everyone”

We live in interesting times

“How extraordinary to see a world-historical revolution unfolding before one’s eyes and not know how it will turn out: that’s what’s happening right now in Saudi Arabia. Mohammad bin Salman, a 32-year-old too young to be a partner in most law or finance firms, has managed, by intrigue not yet fully disclosed, to supplant his cousin Crown Prince Muhammad bin Nayef as heir to the throne and to carry out a purge of the royal family breathtaking in its sweep. Imagine: not only did bin Salman order the arrest of at least ten other princes and a score of former government ministers, now held in luxurious restraint in Riyadh’s Ritz Carlton; he also supposedly had Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, one of the world’s richest men and a major shareholder of 21st Century Fox, Citigroup, Apple, Twitter, and a host of other giant Western corporations, hanged upside down and beaten in an ‘anti-corruption’ investigation.”

There was a time I thought the period 1914-22 was the period of greatest change in world history. Most nations participated in The Great War; millions of soldiers died from wounds and diseases; millions more civilians died from disease, starvation and government bullets; three empires collapsed in blood and more deaths; and the world’s diplomats set the stage for an even greater blood-letting 20 years later.

We now live in an age of great change, a time of events set in motion by the Great War. Where these events take us is a place unknown by anyone.

Syrians want someone else to change their country

“By way of illustration, he tells me how last week he tried to get a job at a workshop in Marzahn, a grim Berlin suburb.

“The German boss asked him where he came from. When he answered Syria, there was an immediate riposte.

“'You should have stayed there,' he told him.

“'You should have fought with the army to make your country take the right path.'

“He then refused Mohammed work, saying he was already paying for him to live free in Germany out of his taxes.”

http://stuartschneiderman.blogspot.com/2017/12/on-ground-in-salzgitter-germany.html

Almost all the Syrian “refugees” in Germany are men of military age. Rather than change their country, those young men ran away. Not for them the dangers of military service. No taking up arms in a rebel group and fighting the dictatorial Assad. No defending a recognized government against a rebellion.

Those young men ran, believing the nations of Western Europe would give them free housing, would give them jobs. They believed all that because the governments said so. The governments lied to their own people as well, promising (based on what, no one knows) that the refugees would become hard-working, peaceful German, Swedish, Italian, Dutch, Belgian citizens.

You’re gonna get caught

“The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that five Minor League players have been suspended following their violations of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.”

http://m.mlb.com/news/article/262295974/five-minor-league-players-suspended/

Suspensions Range from 50 games to 100 games. Three of the players tested positive for Boldenone. Former Mets pitcher Jenry Mejia in 2016 was suspended for life after a third positive for Boldenone.

And another thing about Utah

“Despite being run by a cult, Utah is a wonderful place to raise a family. It is like the set of Leave It To Beaver, but the size of a European country. At the other end, a state like Massachusetts is wildly expensive and hostile to family formation. Those who do choose to marry and start families, often move to other states. The decades long migration, north to south and east to west, has largely been driven by cost of living.”

Last time we used the thrusters was 1980

Let’s see if they still work.

13 billion miles out, Voyager I receives command.

“Voyager 1, NASA’s farthest and fastest spacecraft, is the only human-made object in interstellar space, the environment between the stars. The spacecraft, which has been flying for 40 years, relies on small devices called thrusters to orient itself so it can communicate with Earth. These thrusters fire in tiny pulses, or ‘puffs,’ lasting mere milliseconds, to subtly rotate the spacecraft so that its antenna points at our planet. Now, the Voyager team is able to use a set of four backup thrusters, dormant since 1980.”

'Gay Americans Arrested for Exposing Themselves at Buddhist Temple in Bangkok'

You’ve heard of the Ugly American? These two are butt-ugly Americans:

Immigration police arrested two US citizens at Don Mueang airport Tuesday night on warrants that charged they posed for pictures showing their naked bottoms at Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn).

Wat Arun is a centuries-old Buddhist temple in Bangkok.

The culprits were identified as Joseph and Travis, both 38 years old, a “self-professed gay couple.” They were arrested at the airport while trying to leave Thailand, and charged with public nudity.

According to Pol Col Choengron Rimpadee, deputy spokesman for the immigration police, tourists should show respect for places of cultural importance. The whole world isn’t San Francisco — or a Melbourne train platform — quite yet.

'Cultural Bullies Set Up “Gaytivity” Scenes'

For the arrogantly belligerent LGBT community, ’tis the season for in-your-face blasphemy:

“Our neighbor’s two Joseph nativity is up & I’m beaming,” posted Cameron Esposito, host of Queery Podcast, on Friday, along with a photo showing two models of Joseph dressed in pink surrounding baby Jesus.

See how many likes he received for his celebration of desecration:

Other persons of preferred perversity favor lesbian Mary gaytivity scenes.

But don’t forget, if you push back in any way, you are a bigot and a hater.

On a tip from The Lieberal Media.

People may put up whatever Nativity scene as desired, but depravity leads to judgment. I hope the backside baring queers get a good caning in Bangkok.

Planet Nine in inner space?

In 1959, Valiant Pictures unleashed upon the world Plan Nine from Outer Space, a throat-sucking space vampire picture. So awe-inspiring was the movie, that in 1980, “authors Harry and Michael Medved dubbed the film the ‘worst movie ever made’ in their book
The Golden Turkey Awards. Wood and his film were posthumously given two Golden Turkey Awards for Worst Director Ever and Worst Film.”

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plan_9_from_Outer_Space

Not so fast, Medveds. It could be science is imitating art (or versa vice, as is appropriate).

“Planet Nine: Theories About the Hypothetical Planet”

By Nola Taylor Redd

“A massive ice giant may be traveling through the outer solar system. Dubbed ‘Planet Nine,’ the hypothetical world was proposed to exist after scientists noticed that a handful of objects beyond Pluto had been shaken up in unusual orbits. Search parties have formed to find the unseen planet, with optimistic hopes of spotting it within a year.

"’It's not crazy; this is the kind of stuff people are finding all the time,’ co-discoverer Mike Brown, at the California Institute of Technology, told Space.com earlier this year. Brown and lead author Konstantin Batygin, also at CalTech, published a paper in January 2016 suggesting that a massive planet could be stirring up the icy bodies of the Kuiper Belt, a ring of material at the edge of the solar system.

"We just need to go out and cover a good swath of the sky."

https://www.space.com/33480-planet-nine.html

(I don’t think Brown means “go out there” in his “go out there” statement, but rather take a long, long look out there. Or, maybe he gives “go out there” literal meaning.)

Pluto has been de-planetized, so maybe Planet Nine can take its place.

If queer is a day-to-day choice, why not POC?

Seems as though some students got all hurty when not invited to the right parties.

“Brown University to Allow Students to ‘Self-Identify’ as Persons of Color”

“Brown University is implementing a change to its graduate school application that will allow applicants to ‘self-identify’ as persons of color. Multiple efforts by The College Fix to clarify the details of this change were ignored by campus officials.

The policy comes as a result of complaints made by graduate students on the Graduate School advisory board that international and Asian American students are not treated as members of historically underrepresented groups by the university, according to The Brown Daily Herald.

One graduate student, Lydia Kelow-Bennett, told The Herald that this decision has led to ‘institutional invisibility’ for these students. Brown defines historically underrepresented groups as ‘American Indian, Alaskan Native, African American, Hispanic or Latinx and Native Hawaiian and/or Pacific Islander.’ The school’s diversity initiatives are intended to benefit members of these groups.

Brown’s criteria for historical underrepresentation ‘caused some students to not receive invitations to certain events, such as a multicultural student dinner,’ The Herald reported.

How allowing applicants to self-identify as persons of color will affect policy relating to the diversity initiatives, and whether the university will take any steps to verify applicants’ self-identification, remain unclear. The Fix reached out multiple times to Brown’s graduate admissions office to inquire into how Brown would ensure that applicants were telling the truth about their self-identified ethnicity. The office did not respond.”
