In the wilds of East Texas

Lions and cougars and bears, oh my, yes.

There are woods no one ever goes into, places where people hunt deer. Plentiful small and medium wildlife means there will be something bigger looking for dinner.

From a blog where a writer wonders if there are “mountain lions/Cougars in the area.” One response:

“I live in Teasaville,Texas, ive noiticed big cat tracks around my house, thats scary,i live around eight miles from Bullard,Tx.,i know some of the screams are big scetch owls, there very loud, but i have alot of small animals around my place,i go out every once in awhile and check out the tracks in my yard, ive seen some buck tracks, doe's,small cats and some very large cats, ive even seen some very large wolf tracks in my yard,i use to have a part wolf and german shepard mix,so i know the difference in the wolf tracks verses a big dogtrack, these prints are as big as my hand and im a big man with large hands, although i dont have a dew claw but they do,i have always heard we dont have wolves in east texas area, but we do,ive seen them around the Troup area on the roadside, many people say there big cyoties or wild dogs, that we do have around the bullard area, ive heard that for many years,i also have hogs around my house theyve been small tho,not real big,i noiticed someone hit one down the road from my house on 346 north,it was a huge one, probably around three to four hundred pounds a month ago,but i have also seen a panther around the first bridge going down 110south going to troup after passing the Bullard cut off,he was walking across the bottom area,my dad was hunting in the Price,Texas area and a panther walked up on him, while deer hunting he was around ten foot in a tree, the dew was out,he said every step he made he would shake his paws off,i guess because of the dew on the ground,he didnt like them wet,he stayed very still and gun ready,he said after that he never went back to that stand, but there here whether we like it or not,we just have to keep an eye out for them,or stay away from them.Stay safe everyone”
