Texans being Texans

So this thing happened today...a guy led Hopkins County law enforcement on a car chase and Rains County deputies were asked to assist because it looked like he was headed into Emory. However, he turned off before coming across the county line. Our deputies were proactive and continued heading that way to ensure they’d be available if somehow he made his way there. The guy eventually bailed from the car and went into a residence and holed up. Law enforcement officers (DPS, deputies, police officers) were outside in the sun and heat, in all their gear as they prepared to have the suspect come out of the house (which he eventually did and he was taken into custody without anyone getting hurt). It was hot though and there was very little shade. Traffic wasn’t stopped and people drove by. The three men in this photo drove up, pulled up across the road to DPS troopers and said, “We’ve got two coolers with water and Gatorade, where do you want them?” They unloaded the brand new coolers, thanked the officers, told them they were greatly appreciated, loaded back up into the truck and left. All of this took place in less than five minutes.
And it was the highlight of my day. They weren’t expecting anyone to ever know or find out and they were completely thankful to all the law enforcement officers. Life is tough for all of us but when I’m able to witness kindness, empathy, compassion, gratefulness and respect, with people just being human together...it continually reminds me of the depths of greatness we are all capable of, and should work hard to achieve. ❤️ ๐Ÿš“ ๐Ÿšจ ๐Ÿš” ❤️
