Idabel, Oklahoma, Nov. 21, 2020:
Deputies seize moonshine still, drugs and guns
Sheriff's officers seized a moonshine still, meth, prescription pills and guns while serving a search warrant at a Lukfata home Thursday.
Officers investigated a home on Old Military Road after receiving complaints that a 48-year-old man there was trading teenage girls meth in exchange for sex. After investigating further and learning of an active moonshine still on the property, officers got a search warrant for drugs, guns and the still.
ABLE commission agents helped deputies serve the search warrant Thursday at the home. When officers entered the house, the 48-year-old suspect was in bed with a 17-year-old girl, officers said.
There was a barrel of mash for whiskey cooking in the living room, officers said, and a still making whiskey behind the house. Deputy John Jones said officers also seized meth, used syringes, a large amount of prescription pills, scales, baggies and guns.
Officers found hidden containers inside walls in the home which
were disguised as electrical outlets, but contained boxes inside the wall to
hide drugs.
The suspect, who is a convicted felon, was arrested for giving a controlled, dangerous substance to a juvenile, possession with intent to distribute CDS, possession of a firearm after a former felony conviction, maintaining a place where drugs are kept or sold, and numerous ABLE commission charges related to the moonshine still.
(Good to know somebody is keeping long-standing traditions in Southeast Oklahoma. Moonshine, drugs, consensual sex with underage girls. Age of consent is 16 in Oklahoma.)
