I called up “1960 american league standings” the other day and was surprised. No, the Yankees still won the AL that year. From 1950 through 1964, the Yankees were topped only in 1954 (Indians) and 1959 (White Sox).
The
surprising find was, fourth place in the American League in 1960 – the Cleveland
Guardians. Yep. A team that did not exist until last year.
Hmm, said I.
The Indians won the 1920 World Series, so the standings for that year …
The
Guardians took first place, so Google says.
How far have
the Indians been cancelled?
A search for
“Cleveland Indians” brings …
Yep. Those usurper
Guardians.
One of Solomon’s
wiser sayings: “The more things change, the stoopider people look.”
Washington Redskins and Cleveland Indians will be what I call them FOREVER.....
ReplyDeleteLooking at something on Vietnam, I saw a reference to HCMC. Took me a second or three. "Oh. That means Saigon." No one I have met, refugee or child of a refugee, says "Ho Chi Minh City."
