That is what the veterinarian told my wife. Winston is not fat; he is a pug-English bulldog mix. Both of those breeds are somewhat hefty by nature. I have never seen a skinny pug or English bulldog. Winston is a bit more than 3 years old. My wife got him from a pug rescue. He had belonged to an older woman who got a cute puppy and expected it to stay that way. She saw him as a pug. Well, a pug/English bulldog mix is twice the size of a pug.
His last vet
visit he weighed 66 pounds. That is more than twice the weight of a pug-only,
but Winston is almost twice as long and twice as tall as pug-only. He carries
his weight well. He easily jumps onto the couch, onto chairs and onto beds. A
fat dog could not jump any of those heights.
Told Winston
is fat, my wife began looking for good diet dog food. Like any other product on
the internet, good specialty food is not the bagged stuff from Sam’s or Costco.
The dog food my wife found is not cheap. She had to get a doctor’s letter in
order to buy the brand she decided.
Winston
likes it. I feed the dogs. Winston is almost halfway done with a meal before
Baker, our Standard Poodle, has taken two bites. He eats every gram and goes
after the scent as well. Baker has not been deemed fat; she eats normal dog
food.
Last night
as I was feeding Winston and Baker, my wife said that she had ordered another
bag of Winston food. It is delivered, and she wants to make sure we have a bag
before one runs out.
She said, “It’s
gone up. The first bag was $85…”
How much??? my mind said.
“…and the
new one is $100.”
And that is the cheap stuff?
Hey, a $15
hit between orders is a big jump.
Thank you,
Joe Biden.
