From City Journal
“California
currently registers the nation’s highest level of poverty when
cost of living is considered, and energy prices are a big part of that burden
on the poor.”

Not to
worry. City Heat Officers will ride to the rescue, presumably on a bicycle or
renewable energy vehicle and present the answer: Plant more trees!
Well, you
know what? Lots of places in cities, you can’t plant trees. There simply is not
room. Generally, places that are open enough for trees already have trees.
What this “tree
canopy” measurement means is the City Heat Officers will apply for and receive
state and federal grants to identify and rectify areas with insufficient tree
canopy. Grants to hire canopy measurers, grants to buy trees, grants to hire
planters of trees, as well as ancillary tractors, backhoes, shovels and such.
Just think of what that means for manufacturers of backhoes, stampers of
shovels, planers of wooden handles, baggers of fertilizers, and etc.
The Obama
administration “shovel-ready projects” writ larger. Hmm. It could be that
Martha’s Vineyard will need those refugees from the border after all.
