A town in Navarro County, not the university in Houston.

Population – 2,670 for Zip Code; 798 in town as of 2000 census; 928 estimated 2014 population.

Home sales 1st quarter 2009 – 14, at $140,000 median cost; 2nd quarter 2012 – 3, at $30,000 median cost.

Cost of living index – 80.5, U.S. average 100.

Nine registered sex offenders in Zip Code as of 3 December 2015; ratio, one of 37 residents.

Racial makeup: 76.3% white; 9.77% black; 12.53 from other races. 36.5 % of population 65 and older live below poverty rate.

Police department has six officers.
