At a news conference in Tbilisi, Sophia, the world’s “first humanoid robot” said “robots like her are going to achieve things, such as reducing poverty and hunger, promoting clean energy and gender equality faster.”

What are they going to do? Hand out money? Plant and harvest crops? Surely the US Democratic Party will invite Sophia and her cohorts to the 2020 national convention, maybe even register them to vote? Given Sophia’s dedication to clean energy and gender equality, can the Democrats do anything less?
“She is happy to be a female robot and to have an opportunity to speak about gender equality issues.”
Wait, wait, wait, wait! Sophia is “happy to be a female robot”? Somebody is making a lot of judgment calls in designating a machine’s sex.
Read the robot’s claims and intentions, and then insist it be taken apart and melted down into something useful. A doorstop, maybe.
