Scotts Hill, Tennessee


Scotts Hill is in Decatur and Henderson counties, two counties up from Mississippi and four counties in from the Mississippi River.

The 2010 population was 984. Racial breakdown, in accordance with Federal requirements, was 99.22 percent white. For every 100 women 18 and older, there were 89 men. Of families, about 87 percent are above poverty level, as were 82 percent of the total population.

The town had difficulties its first year of incorporation, April 1917. In May that year, the east end of Scotts Hill was destroyed by a tornado. On Oct. 16, fire destroyed all but 12 businesses and five homes.

The town’s employment rate was 95.2 percent, although that might have changed because of the Chinese Kung Flu. A web site said the average commute time was 26.5 minutes. That 26.5 minutes is 00.1 minute above the national average.
