From a Cato Institute Tweet.
“For roughly
the first two centuries of American independence, no black or gay person and no
woman could aspire to be the White House Press Secretary.”
I pondered:
Who was Washington’s press secretary? I’m sure he had a difficult time with the
press corps then, with the press hounding President Washington in New York City and then in
Philadelphia. I could not remember the first press secretary, but it must have
been a man, white, straight, possibly even a slave owner.
Oh.
Washington didn’t have a press secretary?
From Gun
Free Zone
“The first White House Press secretary came to be in the year
1929 under the presidency of Herbert Hoover.”

Still my
argument holds: Anything of importance in world history was first done by a
white straight man.
