The reading had to do with choices and future lives. After the
reading, Priscilla asked the kindergartners what they wanted to be.
One boy said, “I want to be a skateboarder.”
Another boy declared, “I don’t want to be nothin’. I don’t like
firemen, I don’t like policemen. I don’t want to be nothin’.”
“And then there was sweet, angelic Maria,” Priscilla said. “She
had long dark hair and dark eyes, just a beautiful child.”
Sweet, angelic Maria, in her angelic voice, said, “I want to
be a vampire.”
