Ryan Santistevan, Poughkeepsie Journal

A Staatsburg woman was rescued after she was trapped in a trash chute Thursday morning, according to Roosevelt Fire Department Assistant Chief William Marshall.

The woman is a resident at Heritage Point Apartments, a senior rental community. It is not known how long she was trapped, Marshall said. Residents heard her screaming and called 911.

At about 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Roosevelt responded to the call for a woman stuck between the second and third flood in the chute, Marshall said.

At about 8:11 a.m. this morning, the victim was removed from the garbage chute" and turned over to emergency medical services, Marshall said. She was sent to Vassar Brothers Medical Center treatment for further care and treatment.
