Crime in Arkansas

Not to be insensitive but at some point there might have been the thought: “This was not a good idea.”

‘Inmate injured in escape attempt dies’

“Officials say Tucker attempted to escape Saturday morning, suffering head trauma after clearing an internal fence and then attempting to scale a ‘lethal fence’ that carried 5,200 volts of electricity.”

“Lethal.” Too late to look it up.

It was hot, man, and the van was just sitting there, air conditioner running …

“A Searcy man was tired of walking in the heat when he decided to steal a van from a gas station Tuesday, authorities said in a report.

“Brian Reid, 44, is being held in the Pulaski County jail on a charge of theft of property.

“The Chevy Venture was reportedly left running and unlocked about noon while the owner went inside the Exxon station at 2623 Main St. When she reemerged, a white man was driving off in her vehicle, police said.

“The van was found a short time later in the 500 block of West 26th Street. Reid was getting out of the driver's side when police arrived, the report said.

"’Reid was apprehended without incident,’ officers wrote. ‘Reid stated “I was hot and tired of walking.”'"

“Reid remained in the Pulaski County jail Wednesday morning with bail set at $10,000. A preliminary court appearance was scheduled later Wednesday morning.”
