Wonder what the official word is now?

‘U.S. agency denies data center to monitor citizens' emails’

"Many unfounded allegations have been made about the planned activities of the Utah Data Center, ... one of the biggest misconceptions about NSA is that we are unlawfully listening in on, or reading emails of, U.S. citizens. This is simply not the case." – NSA statement.

  1. The key word in that quote is "unlawfully". If they get a judge to do the warrant, like with Verizon, it's not unlawful any more.

  2. That's true, and the statement is meant to ease any fears citizens might have about the government monitoring and listening. The statement goes with "If you haven't done anything wron, then you don't have anything to be afraid of."
