A couple of nights back, my wife and I went to Sonic for supper. We were house-sitting and dog-sitting and did not want to take time from our primary duty to cook on the stove. I had told my wife my order -- a No. 1 burger and onion rings. The Sonic person said, "We don't have onion rings available." My wife said, "How can you not have onion rings?" The Sonic person replied, "We have staffing problems, and we don't have anybody to prepare onion rings."
How can this be? thought I. You pour some thawed onion rings in the onion ring fryer and fry away. But, I was not in charge of that Sonic, or any other.
What the Sonic person said was in line with news stories, that of employers unable to find enough workers, because the Federal government paid too many people not to work.
Stay home! Don't bother with work! Be happy!
Not a good re-election slogan.
