Mr. Beck:

Recently my mother-in-law received from you a letter stating your desire that she renew her membership in FreedomWorks.

You speak to her as “Dear Patriot.” You say she should complete the “enclosed 2013 MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL FORM and rush it back with your most generous renewal gift in the FIRST-CLASS STAMPED REPLY ENVELOPE we’ve provided.”

You end your letter with: “FreedomWorks will be letting me know as soon as you’ve renewed your support, so please respond as quickly as possible.”

Well, Mr. Beck, let me let you know a few things about my mother-in-law. She is 87 years old. She is a widow of a World War II soldier. She is a retired Registered Nurse. She has a 58-year-old son, whose mental age is around 5. She survived the Great Depression in rural Arkansas.

Each month my mother-in-law receives a Social Security check. Last year she sent $50 from her Social Security to FreedomWorks. I know that because a letter from Matt Kibbe (FreedomWorks president and CEO) states, “Your 2013 MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL FORM indicates your largest gift from last year -- $50.” Mr. Kibbe then asks for more money, “$75, $100 or maybe even more …” I assure you, Mr. Beck, that had my wife and I known of your interest in taking my mother-in-law’s Social Security, you would not have received one penny.

Finally, Mr. Beck, let me let you know my mother-in-law will not be renewing her FreedomWorks membership, not in 2013 or in any other year. You and other thieves who prey on the fears of elderly people will not receive any money.

I ask a simple question, Mr. Beck: Have you no shame?
