Grammar and the number 122728

My present solitaire score.

PubChem CID: 122728; chemical formula: C36H38N2O6

No 0 wood joiner; Carrelli rettangolari vasi rotelle; an MLS house in Rapid City, S.D.; a National Bus listing.

Cat wall paper (the site has “wallpaper,” but that is a verb form, as in “We are going to wallpaper the guest room.” “Wall paper” is the stuff you glue on walls. A common usage now is combining words and using the resulting word wrong. “Backyard” is another one. “Backyard” is an adjective, as in “We are having a backyard barbecue.” People often use “backyard” as that place behind the house, as in “It is in the backyard.” The correct sentence is, “It is in the back yard.” People who misuse those words defend their usage by saying, “They know what I mean,” which is another way of saying, “I really do not give a damn what you think.” Well, it isn’t what I think. Rules of grammar are specific. Anyone who doesn’t “give a damn” about rules of grammar also believes he/she may follow only the rules he/she wishes to follow, and all other rules can just go to Hell. I would talk about the misuse of “may” when the correct word is “might,” but that would take away from our findings of the number 122728.)

Model numbers, style numbers, stock numbers … My Army serial number was replaced by my Social Security Number. I remember my serial number. It began RA, which meant Regular Army. Other designators of the time were: US, assigned to draftees; AR, for Army Reserves; and NG for National Guard.
