Natalie Portman takes over
the Thor hammer, because … men.
But hanging a picture,
killing spiders, reaching a plate on a high shelf, the Thor: Love and Thunder
star comes up short. Literally.
Portman is 5’3” tall. The
real Thor, Chris Hemsworth, is 6’3”. That is one foot, any way you look at it.
Natalie Portman To Play New Thor But Will Still
Ask A Man To Hammer Stuff For Her
SAN DIEGO, CA—Marvel stole the show at the annual
San Diego Comic Convention last month, announcing a new lineup of movies, TV
shows and virtue signals to be added to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Some of
the announcements were expected, such as Captain America Ignores 70 Years’ Worth Of
Preventable Tragedies, Captain Marvel and the Search for a
Personality, and the reboot of the Fantastic Four reboot.
However, one sequel that is gaining a lot of attention is the fourth
installment of the Thor series, Thor: Love and Thunder.
While the previous films were helmed by Chris
Hemsworth, Love and Thunder will feature Natalie Portman, a
woman, taking over as the goddess of thunder. Marvel Studios President Kevin
Fiege announced this drastic change shortly before being joined on stage by
Natalie Portman herself.
As the overwhelming applause died down, more details
were revealed. Portman made a point to clarify that, while her character would
wield Mjolnir, the powerful hammer of Norse mythology, she would still ask a
man for help any time she needed to actually hammer in a “nail or
something.”
“For example,” Natalie explained, “If my character
needs a picture frame or letterboard or some other decoration hung on a wall,
she'd still ask Hemsworth’s character for help with that, naturally.”
Natalie mentioned that other tasks, such as getting
objects from high shelves and figuring out how to hook up the entertainment
center, would also likely be performed by a man.
