B-57: Another airplane that keeps hanging on

“After completing a BACN deployment at Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan, one of the NASA’s last two flying WB-57Fs is on its way back to Ellington Field, Texas.”

The Martin B-57 was a license-built version of the English Electric Canberra. Production of the Canberra began in 1946, but then first flight was in 1949. The U.S. Air Force began using the B-57 in 1953. Sixty were lost in Vietnam, including two Australian.

Not bad for an airplane that first flew 64 years ago.
