The right to protect

A week ago, a man living a few blocks away reported to the sheriff’s department that when seeing someone on his patio, he got his pistol. When the trespasser tried to open the patio door, the homeowner fired through the glass. The intruder ran away. Another man later commented on the story on a neighborhood Facebook page and then said, “There are too many guns in the hands of people who are not police or military.” My wife read that to me. I said, “Ask him how many he thinks are not too many.” She said she did not want to get into an argument. Really, though, when someone makes that statement, I wonder where they place the magic number. I know what it is – 0, as in zero.
