"(Ed) Reulbach was effective at times (24 wins, 7 losses, 2.03 ERA), but extremely wild and unreliable." - Reach Guide (1908)

Extremely wild and unreliable Ed. At the end of 1908, Ed Reulbach had pitched four seasons with the Chicago Cubs. His won-loss record was 78-29. In 1,000 innings, he walked 335 batters and struck out 475.
In 13 years pitching in the majors, wild and unreliable Ed posted a 182-106 won-loss record, had an ERA of 2.28, and in 2,632 innings walked 892 and struck out 1,137 batters.
Any MLB team these days would be pleased to have such a wild and unreliable pitcher.
