Of course the multinational issued an apology.
“In response to the backlash,
Burger King took to Twitter to apologize for the campaign. ‘We apologize
to all those who have been offended by our campaign aimed at promoting our
vegetable products at Easter. Our intention has never been to offend anyone and
the immediate withdrawal of the campaign has already been requested,’ the
company tweeted in Spanish.”
That is what passes for an
apology from a corporation that maybe should have thought about that kind of ad
in a country that is more than 60 percent Catholic. “We’re sorry if you were
offended.” That says, “We didn’t do anything wrong, and if you were offended, maybe you
should grow a thicker skin. And get more education.”
