How things sometimes go in the Caucasus

Population changes in Lachin/Berdzor.

1939 – 80.7% Azerbaijani; 11.6% Armenian; 6.4% Russian.

In the late 1930s, Soviet authorities deported most of the local Kurdish population as well as much of the Kurds elsewhere in Azerbaijan and Armenia to Kazakhstan.

1979 population – 6,073, of whom 99.1% were Azerbaijani.

2021 population – 100-120, of whom 100% were Armenian.
