Got to like the headline.
Some points from the story:
Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell
wants to save his island (and the others) from the horrors of climate change.
“An average of 30,000 people fly in and out of Hawaii every day of the year to visit
this tropical paradise. That’s an awful lot of jet fuel burning up and
cluttering the atmosphere. Perhaps Caldwell could sue the airport and the
airlines. Of course, that would cut into the tourism industry and cripple
Hawaii overnight so we can’t have that, can we?”
Thirty thousand people a day coming in and
going out. How many taxis is that to take tourists to and from airports? How
many buses and taxis taking tourists to touristy places on the islands? How
many powered boats taking tourists diving or fishing? How many airplanes and
helicopters for taking tourists on scenic trips?
Well, those are income-producing endeavors, as
well as pumping tons and tons of carbon thingies into Hawaiian air.
One word to remember, Mayor Caldwell: Chevron.
U.S. courts, Canadian courts and even an international court in The Hague
derided and tossed out the corrupt suits filed against Chevron.
