Between 2:23 a.m. and 4:42
a.m. Saturday my phone received 13 calls. I answered two, the first and the second.
Whoever made the first call did not reply. The second call was a recording notifying me that my internet connection would be shut down unless I pressed 1 for additional
information. I turned off my phone. For whatever it is worth, the recorded
voice was of a woman with English accent.
The calls I received were:
642-472-0263 – Kansas
654-133-382 – Minnesota
Unknown
670-419-028 – Commonwealth of
North Mariana Islands
604-908-018 – City of
Vancouver, British Columbia
646-238-429 -- NYC
272-215-1514 – Williamsport,
PA 0251. A legitimate number. Call went to voice mail. Waiting for reply.
657-948-126 – Los Angeles
682-977-567 – Fort Worth Texas
977-840-0125 -- Texas
637-671-9514 – Not a valid
Area Code in North America
902-289-1509 – Stewiacke, Nova
Scotia, Not a working number. Stewiacke has a statue of a mastodon, a
bar, a pharmacy, a grocery store, a pizzeria, numerous fast food restaurants,
two gas stations, a hardware store, an 18-hole golf course and a newly built
elementary school that consolidates 2
former local schools. The population is around 1,400.
485-131-2162 – NY State, not
a working number.
The three-digit last
groupings are as recorded by my phone.
The numbers are, of course,
part of a scam. If you get a call between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., and you do not
recognize the number, don’t answer. Wait until 10 a.m. or so and then run a
search on the numbers.
