U.S. military aviation developers like to put several words in the title of new programs – Long Range Bomber Program and Very Long Range Bomber Program of the late 1930s, for example.
Was a time things were more simple, and, surprise, the German Air Service of World War I sometimes stuck to simplicity. The Allgemeine Elektricitäts-Geselschaft G. II of 1915, for example. G stood for “Grossflugzeuge,” or “Big Aircraft.”
