A Texas war

Not really a war, but an “armed uprising of Texas colonists protesting what they viewed as an attempt by the land company to invalidate their land claims.”

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hedgcoxe_War

What happened was, a land company and the state government tried to get between settlers and land. That’s a thing just not done in Texas. People there have a high regard for property. A rightful owner is a rightful owner, when the property has been rightfully obtained, and all real Texans will haul out their God-given rifles and etc., if necessary.

That’s what settlers did in 1852, and they drove a land company and the state government into seeing the light of property rights.

(All that new knowledge came about because my solitaire score was 75056, which is the Zip Code for The Colony, Texas. The Colony gets its name from the Peters Colony land, the site of the Hedgcoxe War.)
