2010 census: 139 people; 82 percent white; 8.6 percent Native American; 8.6 percent two or more races; 3.6 percent Hispanic or Latino.

2000 census: 183 people; 92.35 percent white; 1.64 percent African-American; 4.37 percent Native American; 1.64 percent two or more races.

Drop of 44 people; almost 10 percent decrease of white population; 100 percent decrease in African-American population; increase of 100 percent Hispanic or Latino (or whatever increase from 0 percent to 3.6 percent is).

Notable people: Madelyn Dunham, Barrack Obama’s maternal grandmother was born in Peru in 1922. If not for her, the town would have no notable people.
