Gov. Abbot refuses to politicize major league baseball

The Texas Rangers baseball team had asked Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to throw out the first pitch at their home opener. 

With MLB’s decision to move the 2021 All Star Game from Atlanta, Gov. Abbott said he’d had enough.

He released a letter Monday telling the Rangers that he will not support the politicization of baseball and therefore will not throw out the first pitch.

“I was looking forward to throwing out the first pitch at the Texas Rangers’ home opening game until @MLB adopted what has turned out to be a false narrative about Georgia’s election law reforms,” Abbott tweeted Monday. “It is shameful that America’s pastime is being influenced by partisan politics.”

Abbott attached a letter he addressed to Neil Leibman, president of operations and chief operating officer for the Texas Rangers.

In it, he told Leibman that while Texas was proud to host the playoff games and World Series in his state last year, it would not seek to host any other MLB special events, including the All-Star Game.

Florida has fared far better than New York and New Jersey, for example, and multiple studies have found no correlation between lockdown stringency and death rates.

Yet lockdowns have come at an enormous economic and human cost. We’ve seen mental health problems and child suicide spikes, an increase in domestic violence, an uptick in drug overdoses, and much, much more. And, of course, the economic toll of shutting down businesses and criminalizing “non-essential” livelihoods has been devastating.

The national unemployment rate was a poor if not disastrous 6.2 percent in February. Yet the just-released state-level unemployment rates for last month show that the devastation hasn’t been equal across the board. New Labor Department data reveal that many free states have returned to nearly their pre-pandemic unemployment rates — while lockdown states dominate the wrong end of the list.

Infrastructure definition: the basic physical and organizational structures and facilities (e.g. buildings, roads, power supplies) needed for the operation of a society or enterprise.

President Biden’s “American Jobs Plan” proposes spending $2.3 trillion, in addition to the $1.9 billion recently approved, and both trillions “on top of a $4 trillion or so annual level of baseline federal spending.”

Keeping in mind that those 2.3 trillion dollars are to be spent on infrastructure, which roads, highways, buildings and etc. will receive the money?

$400 billion will go “to expand caregiving for those who are older and those with disabilities.”

$213 billion will go to “affordable housing.”

$174 billion will be spent on “electric vehicle incentives.”

$109 billion goes to “electric grid and clean energy.”

$100 billion goes to “public schools.”

$100 billion will be spent for “high speed broadband.”

Proponents of spending another $2.3 trillion can call their bill “America’s Job Plan” from now until whenever, but will Democrats admit the title hides spending massive amounts of money we do not have? Not likely. Facts matter little to Democratic Progressive Socialists.

Hollywood don’t care about no stinkin’ boycott

Hollywood knows that if every American Republican, all 74 million Trump voters in 2020, never went to the theater again, never signed up for a streaming service ever again, never turned on the TV ever again, and just sat around watching old DVDs they already owned, that would make a rounding error difference on their balance sheets against the global market.

There are more NBA fans in China than there are total Americans.

MLB is trying to capture the same market.

Only football is still heavily US-dominated because football is uniquely American in culture.

So what that Coke or basketball insults American Conservatives.

They lose some sales in the US.

They make up for it in China because China loves it when American companies insult America, that is used as propaganda in China.

The Chinese government loves to throw Black Lives Matter back in our faces.  It pulls our teeth on calling them out on their human rights atrocities.
