He fell into a trance. There came from the sky a sheet filled with all animals and reptiles and birds of the sky. “And there came a voice to him, ‘Rise, Peter. Kill and eat.’” – Acts 10: 10-13.
Not “Rise
and find the nearest organic garden…”
Not “Rise
and go to the nearest vegetarian restaurant…”
“Rise,
Peter. Kill and eat.”
You have permission to argue what has been put before you, but you may not add subjects to the agenda.
From Sultan
Knish
To the ruling
elite, “American
politics was an old gas-guzzler with tail fins, fuzzy dice and smoke coming out
of the hood while the elites wanted a sleek simplified electric car where all
the dirty stuff happened out of sight and the public showed up on cue to vote
the way that they were told.”
“Democracy is based on a behind the
scenes consensus, as he put it, ‘what to do about climate change’ that has no
room for someone who says, ‘This is a hoax that the liberals have cooked up.’
Political debate can’t extend to questioning premises, only pathways to
outcomes. In a frictionless democracy, captive conservatives can offer ‘free
market solutions’ to global warming or racial inequality, but they can’t
question whether these should be on the agenda.”

My phone/camera and etc. informed me it was at 15% power and should be plugged in.
My watch informed me it was at 14% power, and etc.
My Nook Book informed me it, too, was at 14% power and would be so grateful were I to attach it to a recharge device.
All that within 30 minutes.
Life in the Ultra-Civilized Planet.
And, the HVAC repair person is scheduled for this afternoon for the twice-annual blowing or pumping of an exhaust pipe.
And, my wife also scheduled a pool repair visit for some problem. The woes accumulate.
In Texas and in Arkansas we did not have the same air conditioner woes as here in Florida. Different woes, but the AC did not go out as often.
Also in Texas and in Arkansas we did not have a pool to necessitate calling someone from pool repair. Of course, there were days and days of extreme heat, 100 and above, as well as days and days of ice and cold, 20-30 degrees.
In Florida, every day is green.
The civilian handling administrative and personnel matters in my daughter’s Air Force squadron was a retired Marine Corps gunnery sergeant. There are several dissimilarities in that collection of previous/present employment methods.
“He was a
nice man,” Kat said. “And, he was very intelligent.”
When I asked
about his gunnery sergeant background colliding with the Air Force way, Kat said, “When he needed to get his point across, he would slowly stand from his
desk, slowly walk to the offending office, close the door and tell the offender
what had been done wrong and how the offender would fix the problem.”
One time she
saw him go all gunny. He was on the phone and he said, “So you want me to leave
my office, get in my car, drive to your office in Lincoln and stand on your
desk with a baseball bat until you fix the problem?”
Get ‘em,
Gunny.

“I would expect
hunter-gatherers entering uninhabited America to have done pretty well, and
have high population growth rates, especially after they become more familiar
with the local ecology. There is good reason to think that early Amerindians
did: Bayesian skyline analysis of their mtDNA indicates fast population growth.
They were expert hunters before they ever arrived, and once they got rolling,
they seem to have wiped out the megafauna quite rapidly.”

When the early trans-Siberians
arrived, the North Americas contained few bison. The newcomers, experienced in
killing big herbivores and carnivores, extinguished competitors and predators, leaving
millions of acres of nutritious plains grass for the bison. By eliminating
native species, the now-Native Americans provided the basis for their own
expansion. They were, in modern terminology, colonists.
