GTR completed. When U.S. military forces first began worrying about color, race and sex, kinds of appointees were set in military-grade concrete. Fifty years or so. Hasn’t changed.

People who go “Yes Sir Ma’am Preferred Pronoun, three bags full” will do well to remember civilians will effect changes done by the present administration. You “Salute anything above my grade” types, new days are coming, when the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Space Command go back to their purpose, training to destroy our enemies.

Israeli soldier struck by van shoots assailant

 From The Times of Israel

“An officer in the Israel Defense Forces was seriously wounded Wednesday morning in a car-ramming attack at a West Bank checkpoint east of the Israeli city of Modiin and near the West Bank settlement of Beit Horon, the military said.

“Footage of the incident at the 'Bell' checkpoint, where Routes 4436 and 4437 from Beit Ur and Ramallah hit the major Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway Route 443, showed a van hitting the officer before the driver gets out of the car and appears to try to attack the victim with a pickaxe.

“The injured officer then shot the Palestinian assailant, killing him.”

Worth the price

During physical therapy on Monday, I noticed that the man at a nearby device had a red walker, similar to a style provided by VA.

I asked the man if he got the walker through VA.

"No," he said with a supercilious smile. "I paid for mine."

He might not have meant his reply meaning the way it sounded, but I took it as spoken.

I said, "So did I. Sixteen years."

He didn't say anything.

For Kennedy assassination conspiracy theorists

Lee Harvey Oswald killed Dallas Police Officer J.D. Tippit while running from police, after killing President Kennedy.

Dallas Detective Jim Leavelle is the man who looks surprised in the photograph when Jack Ruby shoots Oswald.

Both Tippit and Lavelle were born in Red River County.

Philly whiners as bad as Red Sox

From Valor Guardians

“The Phillies are complaining that Maldonado of the Astros used an ILLEGAL BAT!!! in the first game of the World Series. The bats are an older model (Maldonado got his from Albert Pujols) which MLB says players who started after 2010 can’t use. Pujols was grandfathered since he started in the 1790s or so. It should be noted that Pujols in his best years could hit .300 with a table leg, and Maldonado is hitting something like .002 on his better outings – plus Philadelphia won the game. Quit yer whinging, guys! They’re as bad as the Bostonians still talking about ‘the Curse’ years after they won the Series in 2004.

People want stability

In Portland, Oregon:

“The murder rate is surging in Portland, especially among those living on the street. In a recent survey of Portland residents, 84% of those polled said they felt unsafe downtown at night, and 61% felt the same way during the day. Eighty-two percent want more police in the city.

“Drug addiction is as bad as ever. 'There is no evidence that Measure 110 has reduced drug use, drug-related crime, or overdose in the state,' Keith Humphreys, a psychologist who specializes in addiction and served as a senior advisor in the Obama administration, told me, referring to a progressive 2020 initiative that decriminalized drug possession.

"Meanwhile, Mexico’s Sinaloa drug cartel is active in ‘every corner of the state’, as The Oregonian puts it. (Police in Eugene recently seized 18 pounds of fentanyl in a single traffic stop, enough to kill most of the state of Oregon.”

“Society abhors a vacuum, and in this case a Mexican cartel has moved in and set up shop.
