Carville just now tuning in

James Carville has been all over TV news the past few days, telling Democrats (in effect) to get their heads out and pull their train wreck away from the socialist railroad.

I think Carville only now tuned in to what was going on in his beloved Democratic Party. He waited for an adult to enter the room and tell the kids to settle down.

Carville should have taken a longer, more detailed look. Democrats have not had an adult in charge since sometime before Jimmy Carter.

Think about it. Democratic Party presidents since Jimmy Carter: Bill Clinton (1993-2001) and Barrack Obama (2009-2017).

Not saying Democrats had anything to do with this, but…

Russian TV Runs Conspiracy Theory Blaming Trump for Coronavirus

A Russian state television show has run a conspiracy theory which blames the coronavirus outbreak on none other than U.S. President Donald Trump. 

During Wednesday evening’s edition of “Vremya” on Channel One, host Kirill Kleimenov recounted the theory that the highly contagious virus didn’t originate in a cave of Chinese bats, but was actually manufactured in an American laboratory on Trump’s orders.

Kleimenov pointed to an unmistakable “signature” in the virus’ name which could only be the work of Trump. 

“From the origin of the word, the origin of the virus becomes clearer. What is it called? Coronavirus. Take the word ‘crown.’ It is the basis of the name and comes first,” Kleimenov said. 

“What did Donald Trump, the president of America, China’s main rival in the world arena, do in his previous life? That's right, he handed out crowns at his famous beauty contest. So the origin of the coronavirus, and most importantly, the goals and objectives of its use become absolutely clear,” he continued, admitting that it was just a conspiracy theory.  

In reality, coronaviruses get their name from the virus' appearance, which resembles a crown.

More than 28,000 people have been diagnosed with the new coronavirus worldwide and more than 560 people, mostly in China, have died. There have been two confirmed coronavirus cases within Russia.

Mmm, mmm good

Last night we had supper at Kathleen’s. She baked three galette, two with cheese and one with blueberries and raspberries.  I called them “French pizza.” No one agreed with me.

The two cheese galette were made with two kind of cheese each, and one had sliced apples. I do not remember which kinds of cheese, other than feta and cheddar, but both were good. So good that I had a slice of each for breakfast this morning.

The blueberry-raspberry galette was just a bit salty, but everybody agreed that was from the feta cheese.

This morning I could not remember what the things were called, so I did a search for “french pizza.” A bunch of things labeled “pissaladiere” turned up. I didn’t read any of the “piss…” hits, any more than I would read a search result for German food that began “scheisse…” After a while, I decided “pissa” was no different than “pizza.”

A British soldier’s battered World War I diary recounting the bloody Battle of the Somme has been discovered in a U.K. barn.

The diary, which was written in pencil by Private Arthur Edward Diggens of the Royal Engineers, starts on Feb.13, 1916 and ends on Oct. 11 of that year. His diary entry for July 1, 1916, describes the first day of the Battle of Somme.

“Something awful,” he wrote. “Never witnessed anything like it before. After a bombardment of a week the Germans mounted their own trenches and the infantry reckon that every German had a machine gun.”

Hansons Auctioneers in the U.K. will be auctioning the diary on March 20.

Diggens’ diary was in a box found in a barn in Leicestershire, which is in England’s Midlands region. Other unrelated military items were also in the box, according to Hansons. “The owner had no idea who any of the items related to but said his mother had been the recipient of old family heirlooms,” said Hansons’ expert Adrian Stevenson, in a statement. “It’s a complete mystery how this Somme diary ended up in the Midlands, particularly as Arthur was born in London. I’m just relieved such an important piece of military history has been found and can now be preserved.”

After its discovery in the barn, the diary was brought to a Hansons valuation event. Stevenson said that, when he saw that the diary ended abruptly on Oct. 11, 1916, he feared the worst for Diggens. “Because of this we feared Arthur must have been a casualty of the conflict but my research proved otherwise,” he explained. “Not only did he survive the First World War, he returned to his loved ones in England and became a husband and father.”

D-Day by CNN: Hey, where’s all the POC, diverse trans, queer, lesbians?

ATLANTA, GA—Everyone was really happy that the Allied forces stopped Hitler. Everyone, that is, except CNN, who published a retrospective on the war this week, zeroing in on the real issue of Operation Overlord: no gay female trans POCs in any of the units.

While most people were really grateful that Hitler was defeated, despite the U.S. military's wider segregation issues at the time, most people are not as woke as CNN, who condemned the entire operation as racist and xenophobic.

"Ugh, look at all these cisgendered males," the CNN opinion piece read. "At some point, you have to ask yourself which is worse: living under Hitler's regime or getting rescued by straight, white males."

"The obvious answer, of course, is straight white males. They're always worse. Then again, you could argue that they're literally Hitler, and you're back to square one."

While CNN acknowledged that many minority soldiers fought both on D-Day and during the wider war, the piece argued that since the Allied task force did not meet CNN's modern diversity standards, the Allied effort should be condemned today.

"Other people focus on the minor things, like the fact that Hitler was ousted, but we've got the real story. Do better, Allies. Do better."
