Here’s what you do …

… when reading a story that begins “College students demand …” Use search function. Same thing with “Police violence common …” Or “Veteran kills …”

The headline: ‘Oberlin College Students Demand Black Students Be Exempt From Failing Because of Ferguson And Garner Protests.’

OK. How many students demand? Around 1,300 signed a petition saying President Marvin Krislov should “suspend the standard grading system because students of color, especially black students, are at risk of failing.”

What is Oberlin enrollment? Around 2,900.

Here is where the thing gets good: “I would really like to see the normal grading system suspended for this semester and replaced with a no-fail mercy period.” What kind of demand is “I would really like to see …”? For that matter, how good are the teachers who let students get by with “I would really like to see”? Really? Oh, absolutely.

And: “Basically, no student especially black students and students of color should be failing a class this semester.” “Basically”? I need a John Stossel moment … Give me a f’n break.
