Putin not taken in by Thunberg UN speech

As with most people able to think for themselves, Russian President Vladimir Putin did not dote over the 16-year-old.

By Reuters

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday took aim at teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg, telling an energy forum he did not share the excitement about her United Nations speech last month.

The 16-year-old Swede electrified the UN summit in New York when she denounced world leaders for failing to tackle climate change, unleashing the outrage felt by millions of her peers by demanding: "How dare you?" While the schoolgirl has inspired Russia's nascent climate protest movement, her UN speech sparked a fierce backlash among Russians.

Putin, chairing a session at an energy forum in Moscow, said: "I may disappoint you but I don't share the common excitement about the speech by Greta Thunberg."
"No one has explained to Greta that the modern world is complex and different and ... people in Africa or in many Asian countries want to live at the same wealth level as in Sweden."
U.S. President Donald Trump mocked Thunberg and Canadian Member of Parliament Maxime Bernier called her alarmist and mentally unstable. Thunberg said their mockery of children showed her message had become "too loud to handle."
Putin said young people who paid attention to environmental issues should be supported, adding: "But when someone is using children and teenagers in personal interests, it only deserves to be condemned."
"I'm sure that Greta is a kind and very sincere girl. But adults must do everything not to bring teenagers and children into some extreme situations."

The Reuters writer forgot one of the first rules in reporting: Do not express an opinion in a news story. The writer says, “The 16-year-old Swede electrified the UN summit in New York…” Doubtful that Thunberg did nothing other than give UN people an opportunity to posture before cameras, giving proper “Ooohs” and “Ahhhs” for the so- called youth movement.

There is something about the girl that isn’t quite right

Greta Thunberg.

Her age, 16, can’t be counted against her, except that no 16-year-old knows anything. Except every 16-year-old knows everything.

Maybe she is an alien. Or a mechanical masquerading as a human.

Thunberg. Thunberg.

That’s it! That’s it!

She is a Borg! Berg –Borg!

Democrats insist Swedish high school girl knows all about climate change.

“WASHINGTON, D.C.—The government wants you to take climate change seriously, like really bad. So bad in fact, that they showed how very serious they are about the ‘climate crisis’ by inviting a foreign high school kid as their star climate witness.

"’Climate change is a real, super serious thing,’ said Rep. Kathy Castor of Florida at a hearing at which the high schooler had been invited to testify before the legislative body. ‘And to let you know that this is something that mature adults need to address---mostly by giving me more money and power---here is a 16-year-old girl we are going to exploit for maximum emotional impact.’
“The girl then gave her testimony, though she was interrupted multiple times by Democrats breaking into tears and screaming, ‘THINK OF THE CHILDREN!’
"’As you can see, this is obviously an issue of reason and science, and also anyone who would dare disagree with a high school kid on this is a denier,’ Rep. Castor said as the student's testimony concluded.
“At publishing time, liberals in Congress had clarified that climate change was serious enough for you to change your lifestyle, but not serious enough for them to change theirs.”

(The part of her testimony I saw, the Borg said she really had nothing to say, so she placed on the table a scientific study and said we should listen to the science and not to emotion. Or something.

(Other than her assurance the world should do as she says, because ... Well, because politicians say she is so, like, smart, what bugs me most is the look of smugness in every picture. Her mama and her daddy did her no favors in her upbringing.)
