ROME (AP) — Archaeologists have found in an ancient Pompeii
bedroom a fresco depicting a sensual scene of a goddess and swan.
Pompeii archaeological park director Massimo Osanna told Italian news agency
ANSA on Monday that the figure of goddess Leda being impregnated by a swan
representing Roman god Jupiter is a fairly common theme in Pompeii home
decoration.
Swan impregnating Leda “is a
fairly common theme in Pompeii home decoration.”
What is it with Roman women
and swans?
Good Roman citizens raised kids in a city with images of a swan fornicating with a woman, intent that the kids become good Romans. The parents were successful.
