Democrat values -- Keeping those people in their place since 1619

From Monday, December 6, this very blog:

“Jacqueline Avant, the wife of music legend Clarence Avant, was shot and killed at their Beverly Hills home early Wednesday.”

And: “Oprah Winfrey mourned the death of Avant on Twitter, saying ‘The fact that this has happened, her being shot and killed in her own home... has shaken the laws of the Universe.’"

Yeah, right-thinking rich people are supposed to be safe in rich neighborhoods, in mansions. That is why we allow deadly crime to continue where the other people live. Gets the need out of their system for a while. Gets them to draw boundaries for shootings and such. That is why we pay billions of dollars in those poor neighborhoods, so those people will confine the killings.

Now, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is complaining about crime in the streets. Seems those people forgot their place. And nobody is better than Democrats at keeping those people in their place.

Right-thinking people: As long as our eugenics program kills off only those people we don't want too many of, as long as armed crime is done by those people and to those people, as long as those people are burning down their own neighborhoods -- Well, you know. It's the thing.

A few years back, Hillary Clinton talked about "our values" and "Democratic values." There you go. Right there.

Denmark's former immigration minister sentenced for separating child brides from older husbands.

Inger Stoejberg said her 2016 order “was aimed at stamping out the practice of child brides who were being imported into the country in the wake of the migrant wave.“  Twenty-three couples were separated,  Germany’s DW News reported.

The special Impeachment Court sentenced Stoejberg to 60 days in prison. The verdict may not be appealed, and the jail sentence must be served.

“’I’m very, very surprised. I think it is the Danish values ​​that have lost,’ Stojberg told reporters. ‘I wished and still wish to protect these girls.’”

Typical every-other Wednesday

Today is cleaning lady day, so I am on the patio with thermos of coffee, flip-top bottle of water, phone, Nook Book and magic writing machine. The guns are out of sight. Rosa might be comfortable around guns, but I have not asked. It is better to assume she is not. A month ago she used the word “pistola” while sweeping and talking on the phone. I did not catch any other words, but I wasn’t really listening. Some words or phrases pique my interest. Mention of guns is one of those.

It’s like newspaper work, when the police scanner is nearby and you work the cop shop. Your mind filters most calls, once you get the 10 code down. “Major 10-50” was the most common call that drew attention. Those calls, you grab a photographer and go.

Some calls are not what they seem. While editing a story at the city desk at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram in the late 1970s, I plainly heard “Officer down” on the scanner, which was not six feet away. I said to City Editor Lou Hudson, “Somebody called officer down.” Lou listened, and he got the attention of Doug Clarke, who was working cop shop. We all listened, waiting for an address and other information. After a few seconds, dispatch said, “Inform Officer Downs…” Sometimes it is better to hear it wrong than not hear it at all.

Rosa is from Mexico. She is as proficient in English as my wife and I are in Spanish. She also cleans for one of our neighbors, who was born in Cuba. Maria (the neighbor) translated hiring transactions between my wife and Rosa.

This area of Florida has many migrant farm workers. The number might  grow less as more and more farm acreage gives way to houses and 7-Eleven stores, Publix, Subway and just about every other name brand. We have two Publix stores within two miles of each other, and a third not five miles away.

The 1990 population of Parrish was 3,644. The 2020 population is a 615% increase, 26,050. Most accents are New York (including Brooklyn), New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Illinois and Wisconsin. Around 80% of residents identify as white, with 12% Hispanic ethnicity. My wife and I are the only Texans in the neighborhood. There has to be some leavening.

Mingus, Texas – Beer and bikes

That’s what Wikipedia says.

“In the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s Mingus, known as a ‘wet’ town, had a thriving set of liquor stores and bars patronized by those in ‘dry’ areas in Palo Pinto County and other area counties. Britain’s biggest bank has been fined $350 million for failing to prevent the laundering of $529 million. Lower-level workers warned upper-level managers, but … You know, money.

“The court documents show that the company was depositing over $2 million in cash per day with NatWest at the height of its activity. There was so much cash that the trash bags used to transport it to the bank’s branches tore because they were so heavy. At times the bank’s safes were inadequate to store the amount of cash being deposited.

“Some of the bank’s employees, who were responsible for handling those cash deposits, reported their suspicions to bank staff responsible for investigating suspected money laundering. However, no action was ever taken.”

Statement by Alison Rose, CEO of NatWest: “We deeply regret that we failed to adequately monitor one of our customers between 2012 and 2016 for the purpose of preventing money laundering.” She also said the bank would continue to invest in fighting financial crime.
