The VA is broken. We can fix it.

Florida Congressman Tom Rooney: "One step the VA can take to ensure its employees better understand the difficulties our veterans face, and are more motivated to serve them, is to hire more veterans.”

No, no, no!! Everybody! Every VA employee a veteran! Every f’n one!

And the congressman toots horn: “For example, I have personally worked across the aisle and with the VA to cut through some red tape and make it easier for TRICARE beneficiaries to see licensed mental health counselors …" yadda yadda BS.

“A source from the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs confirmed that among some of the 300,000 VA employees there is a culture of complacency. His solution is to stop transferring those poorly performing employees and managers to other offices, and instead ‘to remove them from the VA altogether. That is why last year, as part of the Honoring America's Veterans and Caring for Camp Lejeune Families Act we passed legislation mandating regular training and assessment of VA employees in an attempt to bring more accountability to the system.’”

More BS. Yeah, it would be good to get rid of the incompetent, but Congress just passes “legislation mandating regular training and assessment of VA employees in an attempt to bring more accountability to the system.”

“Regular training,” “assessment” and “accountability.” Sounds like really solving a problem.

You want to fix VA? Put veterans in charge, veterans and families of veterans, real people who did real jobs, and not a retired four-star or some other high-ranking dude and politicians say, "See? We appointed a veteran. He knows about war and stuff."

Our exchange student, whose father and grandfather were in a NATO army said she greatly respects American soldiers, but added: "I cannot believe how the country uses you and then tosses you aside."
