One resident said homeowners did not want to see another New Orleans, but …

“And now, RCMP have admitted that they forcibly entered flooded homes in High River, ostensibly to look for stranded people and pets, and then seized firearms left behind in those homes.

“’We have seized a large quantity of firearms simply because they were left by residents in their places,’ said Sgt. Brian Topham. ‘We just want to make sure that all of those things are in a spot that we control, simply because of what they are. People have a significant amount of money invested in firearms ... so we put them in a place that we control and that they’re safe.’

“People also have a significant amount of money invested in televisions and jewelry, too.”
