Bronze Age weapons found on Isle of Coll

Says Jill Harden, Royal Society for the Protection of Birds archeologist: “The items were recovered from what had once been a freshwater loch. It seems that they had been purposely broken and cast into the waters as part of a ceremony, most likely as offerings or gifts to the gods or goddesses of the time.”

I don’t know about that explanation. Maybe the remains were swords and spears broken by the local laird after a buy-back of civilian individual weapons. Can’t have an armed citizenry, you know.
