Thoughts on politics, society and dumb

From Coyote Blog

The author believes “the COVID response in this country (and in others) is exaggerated and counter-productive.” I agree, and as each day passes with the same news, others are joining the “Wait just a minute” movement. The author also believes responses to COVID are driven by fear, ignorance, money and expectations. I agree.

Incentives in decisions. Political incentives to “do something” about the issue of the moment; politicians always legislate to first-order metrics, never second-order metrics; political incentives to expand power; political incentives not to admit error; if it bleeds, it leads and references to personal circumstances when making national trade-offs.

One of the primary mistakes made by politicians, media and world residents in general is the assumption that “Humans have conquered nature.”
