Gluteny trannie fats out, FDA says

Or maybe it was transfats. These days, it’s hard to tell what the govmnt is saying. Today. Or yesterday.

“When the federal government's 1980 ‘Dietary Guidelines for Americans’ warned about the baleful effects of saturated fats, public interest activists joined the fight and managed to persuade major food companies to switch to the shiny new alternative: trans fats. Thirty-five years later, the Food and Drug Administration finally determined that trans fats are not just useless but unsafe, and ordered them removed from all foods. Oops. So much for settled science.”

Also useless: Vitamin C megadoses, Omega-3 supplements, gluten-free anything … Soon to make the list are other foods/supplements deemed healthy by people/companies making money with alternatives.

I'm waiting for the peanut allergy shoe to drop. "Help me! I dreamed I saw a picture of a peanut and now I can't breathe!"

Stupid TV ad for stupid people

Not five minutes ago a TV ad proclaimed: “You asked for gluten-free oatmeal, and here it is.”

My wife said, “Since when has oatmeal had gluten? Gluten is in wheat. Wheat. That’s the same as advertising fat-free sugar.”

She also noted, “Some scientists say there is no such thing as a gluten allergy.”
