SPOKANE, Wash. — A toddler who jumped on a bed and bounced out a second-story window was saved Friday by his mother, who leaped behind him, caught his foot and lowered him safely to his grandmother who was having a smoke on the porch below, police said.
The mother was just getting out of the shower when she saw the 14-month-old boy, who had been jumping on the bed, trip on a pillow and fly out the half-open window, Police Communications Director Monique Cotton said.
The mother smashed through the window and caught him by a foot as his head bounced on a small roof overhanging the front porch.
The momentum took them both out the window to the porch overhang. The mother was able to lower the baby to the grandmother just as his shoe came off in her hand, police said.
The grandmother heard the breaking glass and was in the right place at the right time to catch the baby before the mother fell into some bushes. She was taken to a hospital for treatment of cuts and a shoulder injury, Cotton said.
"The baby actually did fall," Cotton said. "Grandma caught him and mom fell in the bushes nearby. She's pretty scraped up."
The baby also was taken to the hospital with grandma to be checked out.
"The baby is going to be fine," Cotton said

Got nothing to do for the next few days?
Search "mitch hedberg jokes" and spend a week reading as well as watching videos. The funniest comedian ever.
Two of his best:
People associate long hair with drug use. I wish long hair was associated with something other than drug use... like an extreme longing for cake. And then strangers would see a long haired guy and say, "That guy eats cake. He is on bunt cake." Mothers saying to their daughters, "Don't bring the cake-eater over here anymore. He smells like flour. Did you see how excited he got when he found out your birthday was fast approaching?"
I was at this casino minding my own business, and this guy came up to me and said, "You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit." As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammable and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.

VA, DOD can’t agree on which information system to use on veteran records transfer
“The Stars & Stripes reports that the VA and the pentagon can’t come to an agreement on the information system that would allow them to seamlessly transfer veterans’ records – like the big immature babies that those agencies have become. DoD is shopping for a big wasteful POS system that doesn’t exist yet and the VA doesn’t want to lose theirs, so veterans are left holding the bag.”
'Earlier this month, secretaries from both departments announced they would provide shared medical records starting this year, but not a shared, identical system among agency health officials. Lawmakers and veterans advocates blasted that as reneging on the president’s promise of seamless, lifelong medical records for veterans.
'Department officials insist that isn’t so.
'“We are not moving away from a single, joint electronic health record,” VA assistant secretary for information Roger Baker told the committee. “What has changed is the strategy we will use to accomplish the goal.”'
(Changing strategy to accomplish the goal sounds like we changed direction and now we ain’t got the slightest idea what we are doing.)
Or as thisainthell says: “So, what they need is an administrator that will kick both agencies in the ass until they resolve their little selfish bullshit tantrums. But I don’t see Shinseki or Hagel being that guy. This is what happens when you put politicians in the position of an administrator. If I’m not mistaken, this was supposed to happen last year, and with a year grace period, they still haven’t taken the first step.”

He could have done worse for career choices
Texas Jack Vermillion
Occupation: Soldier, lawman, outlaw, Methodist preacher.
“The origin of Texas Jack, Vermillion's nickname, is unknown, but he is first listed by this moniker on a wanted poster, for shooting a man during an argument at cards. When asked about why he was called Texas Jack, he replied ‘Because I'm from Virginia.’"

Put them away forever, no chance of parole
Two Little Rock men, 18 years old and 20 years old, were arrested Friday morning after killing Christian Hayes, 25, at the Sbarro Restaurant in a mall Thursday night. The two also shot Jashonta Thomas, 18, several times.
Deonte Edison and Tristan Bryant are accused of killing Hayes and wounding Thomas while robbing the restaurant. Police said Edison once worked at the restaurant.
Edison once worked at the restaurant. That is why he or Bryant killed Hayes and tried to kill Thomas. Hayes and Thomas knew Edison. They would have identified him. “Deonte Edison robbed us,” Hayes and Thomas would have told police. And Edison and Bryant would have gone to jail for armed robbery.
When these two are found guilty for capital murder, jurors should not assign them for execution. Jurors should say, “Life, with no earthly chance, ever, for parole.”
Let Edison and Bryant live out their lives behind the walls of a state prison.
Forever can be a long, long time.

Part of the Progressive conspiracy
Bullying is “not a cause for wrongheaded public policy. Hard cases make bad law, and hard cases hijacked by social engineers, backed by state bureaucracies and bankrolled by dimwit boardroom patsies make bad law on a catastrophic scale.”
“’Advisors Say GSA Also For Straight Students,’ as the headline to a poignant story in yesterday’s edition of the Pembroke Academy newspaper in New Hampshire puts it. The school-approved GSA began five years ago with an ambitious platform of exciting gay activities. ‘They had plans for group events, like bake sales and car washes, but they never came to pass,’ explained Ms Yackanin, the social studies teacher who served as the GSA’s first advisor.
“From a lack of gay bake sales and gay car washes, the GSA has now advanced to a lack of gays. ‘The students just stopped coming,’ said Mrs McCrum, the new Spanish teacher who took over the GSA at the start of this school year. This is the homophobic reality of our education system: a school gay group that has everything it needs except gays. Mrs Yackanin is reported by the Pembroke Academy paper as ‘saying to heterosexuals that the GSA is a resource for the entire school community.’ C’mon, you guys, what’s wrong with you? No penetrative sex with other boys is required, or even heavy petting. It’s all about getting together in the old school spirit and organizing a gay car wash.” – Mark Steyn

(Anti-bullying/pro-GLBT propaganda is all part of the demasculanizing of Western society. Men have been in charge since … well, since forever, and men started all the wars and stuff, so if we make the world … not more feminine, because that’s too gender-specific, but, maybe less masculine? We need more women in charge of governments. Perhaps in the US of A we can find an Eva Peron or an Indira Gandhi. Or maybe a Margaret Thatcher or Golda Mier? Yeah, that would unmasculanize society. Those women would end wars and stuff.)
