Spotlight on Ohio

Next Saturday marks the 25th anniversary of then-Gov. Richard Celeste’s proclamation designating the second weekend in October as Islamic Day.

State legislators say there are no plans for Ohio Jew Day, Ohio Hindu Day, Ohio Zoroastrian Day, Ohio Atheist Day, Ohio Catholic Day, Ohio Church of God in Christ Day, Ohio African-Methodist-Episcopalian Day, Ohio Seventh-Day Adventist Day, Ohio Pentecostal Day, Ohio Syriac Day, Ohio Longhouse Day, Ohio Waashat Day, Ohio Earth Lodge Day, Ohio Ghost Dance Day, Ohio Bole-Maru Day, Ohio Peyote Day, and etc.

The “Yeah, sure, why not” of 1987 no longer exists.
