A person schooled in today’s grammar

An insurance company cut my brother-in-law’s Medicare Part B coverage when John moved from Texas to Florida. OK. Insurance companies pretty much cut insurance when someone moves from a state, but the moving was not the reason given. The company said it did not have an office in this part of Florida. The insurance company is called Blue something, and I'm fairly certain the company has offices everywhere.

My wife called the company to get coverage re-established. She talked to a young woman who, my wife said, “was reading from a script.”

After taking information, the woman said, “I will give this to an agent and they will contact you.”

“He will contact me,” my wife said.

“What?”

“He will contact me.”

“That is what I said.”

“No,” my wife said, “you said ‘they’ will contact me.”

“That’s what I said. They will contact you.”

“Right,” my wife said. “It’s only English, so what does it matter?”
