That’s what the older woman at the table said. “I remembah the Dahdghas.”
I said, “Do you remember when they won the World Series in 1955?”
“Oh, yeah,” she said. “It was a wondahful time.”
She said she remembered 1957, too.
“All the drivahs were blowin’ their horns. I asked my mother, ‘What’re they doin’?’ She said the Dahdghas were moving to Los Angeles.’ What’d they want to do that for?”
I told her I was a Dodgers fan. A Northeast Texas boy, a Dodgers fan. My father and my older sister were Yankees fans. We had some disagreements.
I’m with the Brooklyn born and raised woman.
“What’d they want to do that for?”
