The queering of NCIS New Orleans

A couple of seasons ago, the show’s producers, or whoever makes the decisions, got rid of Agent Brody, “for creative reasons.”

That phrase (“for creative reasons”) can cover many events, but always leads to questions. Did Brody’s actor Zoe McLellan want more money? Did McLellan piss off the wrong people? Did she question scripts or directors? The stated definition of “creative reasons” in this case, as reported by TV Line, parroting show “executives”: “The reason for McLellan’s exit was a creative decision, seeing as her character had been compromised in the Season 2 finale, due to her association with a Homeland Security agent who turned out to be a misguided zealot.”

Okay, maybe.

But the executives’ decision on Brody’s replacement too closely follows Joe Bob Briggs’ note that in every production meeting he ever attended, someone always stated, “We need a strong woman in this role.” So, some women actors got roles because someone decided a certain character should be “a strong woman.”

That’s all changed now. Too many TV shows now have one gay, lesbian, queer character.

Someone in the NCIS NO hierarchy decided Brody’s replacement should be a lesbian. So, the audience got Agent Tammy Gregario, played by Vanessa Ferlito.

One of Hollywood’s greatest fantasies is that about 25% to 50% of Americans are queer, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or whatever other kind of sexual sodomite exists in minds or reality.

Politics of sex drives far too many decisions. Some day it will come crashing down.
