House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has announced plans to visit Taiwan. The Chinese commies are pissed.
“'If US fighter jets
escort Pelosi's plane into Taiwan, it is invasion. The PLA has the right to
forcibly dispel Pelosi's plane and the US fighter jets, including firing
warning shots and making tactical movement of obstruction. If ineffective, then
shoot them down,' Hu Xijin, a commentator with the Chinese state-affiliated
Global Times, wrote on Twitter.”
China commies say Taiwan is as much a part of mainland China as is Beijing. They have said that since Chiang Kai-shek took his government there after losing a civil war with the Reds in 1949. The commies have, at various times, made noises about invading Taiwan. They haven’t launched an invasion because the US Navy and the US Air Force always stood ready to blast Red ships and boats into a couple of Heavenly Lands beyond the horizon. And, an actual invasion would not play well with China's continued expansion plans in Africa and Central Asia.
Diplomat
talk sometimes crosses into “double-dog-dare” territory, and that is what this
seems like. The US now has been DDD’d and must respond.
Question is,
how far do we go?
