Well, that explains everything

Upon espying the synopsis for The Electrical Life of Louis Wain, I initiated a search, having never heard of the man.

Wain was an English artist, best known for his drawings, “which consistently featured anthropomorphized large-eyed cats and kittens. Later in life he was confined in mental institutions and struggled with mental illness.” (Wikipedia)

Wikipedia also says Wain was born in Clerkenwell in London. His father was a textile trader and embroiderer. Also noted: “His mother was French.”
